The super sixth man came off the bench and sparked the Wolverines by hitting four threes in the first half including three in the second quarter which built a 31-17 halftime lead. Morghan has taken a huge jump, one of the most improved players in the state. Her outside shooting accuracy has gotten better along with her decision making. Slater is a shifty finisher downhill, able to evade charges with her body control. Listed at 5-foot-7, but likely a little taller, Slater plays bigger than whatever her true height is, impacting games as a rebounder. Defensively, Morghan has good instincts to blow up plays. In the fourth quarter with the game on the line, Slater went 6-6 from the foul line. Morghan tallied a game-high 22 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist and 4 steals in the 59-49 win over Sequoyah. Chicago State has offered.

Emily is one of the most well-rounded players on the roster. She has a strong frame for her size which helps her battle in the paint for rebounds and defend larger players. Jacobs is a good finisher in traffic, her best hoop vs. the Chiefs coming when she had a defender sealed underneath the basket and went up for a reverse. Jacobs has shown over the course of her career the ability to stretch out the defense with her three-point shot and can fill up the box score with her activity. Against Sequoyah, Jacobs went 5-7 from the line to finish with 9 points, 7 rebounds and 2 steals.

Cam buried some huge threes down the stretch to keep Woodstock in front whenever Sequoyah threatened or even briefly took the lead. Schlicting netted three long balls in the second half including one with under two minutes to play to push the Wolverine lead out to 54-49. The shooter collected 9 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 1 block in the 10-point win.

The Piedmont Lion recorded 7 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals. Lily drilled a deep three in the fourth quarter to keep the Chiefs at bay. Lily's quickness and ability to find open shooters led to nine threes against the Sequoyah zone.

I loved the hustle that [player_tooltip player_id='747122' first='Bree' last='Rogers'] brought to help set the tone, especially in the first half. Rogers was a ballhawk in the press, quick to identify errant passes and take them the other way. Bree scored in transition and had a left-hand layup off a steal. Rogers posted 4 points, 1 rebound, 3 assists and 5 steals. Bree was a sparkplug for the Wolverines in the crucial region win.

Carly finished with 18 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and 1 block, scoring all of her points after halftime. Bass nearly willed the Lady Chiefs to a wild come from behind win, but momentum was stymied when she rolled her left ankle on defense with 1:20 remaining down 54-49. Bass came out of the gate firing in the third quarter, hitting three straight threes including an And-1 to draw the Chiefs closer. While Bass can burn defenses from distance, avoiding being a volume shooter and instead focusing on accentuating her gift as being a big guard by getting downhill to score or play make for others can help her when her three-point shot isn't falling. Bass has all the tools to be a big-time player, already with a Campbell offer in hand. Young for her grade, Carly has a lot on her shoulders for a 15-year-old but is more than capable of helping the Chiefs turn around their season. In the fourth quarter, she got more aggressive attacking the basket and found immediate success, scoring on a pair of drives, one an And-1 while shooting 4-5 from the line. Defensively, Bass played atop the 1-2-2 zone and used her length to try to negate clear passing lanes. Carly is one of the better long-term prospects in the state.

I thought Milanni played well for the Chiefs, the Georgia College signee effective around the rim but more impressive to me, her quickness off the dribble when attacking from the perimeter. Abdus-Salaam finished with 15 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. She scored twice in transition by running the floor, converted a right-handed layup on the left side off a putback and scored on a post move. While she didn't hit a jump shot vs. Woodstock, Milanni is a deft stretch big who is shooting 30% from beyond the arc.

Natalie made a positive first impression as a tough-nosed hard-playing forward. Pollard is a critical role player for the Chiefs. She is a hustler that understands her role on the team and plays within herself. Pollard rebounds exceptionally well and is willing to tussle to win 50/50 balls. Her highlight of the night was her left-handed spinning layup. Natalie tacked on 4 points, 12 rebounds and 2 assists.
