MORIARTY, N.M. — Hobbs secures 67-31 win over Farmington

The Friday night non-district meeting was held at a neutral location with both sides having to travel to Moriarty, home of the 4A Pintos.

Hobbs led wire to wire and never trailed. It was a dazzling display of suffocating defense and unselfish play on offense. What's more, Hobbs dominated the glass, collecting as many as two, three and four offensive rebounds per possession. Altogether, Hobbs saw 11 different players score the rock with three reaching double-figures.

[player_tooltip player_id='467055' first='Nakia' last='Mojica'] finished with a team-high 14 points, doing most of her damage in the first half via leak outs, free-throws and a trey ball. [player_tooltip player_id='458555' first='Bhret' last='Clay'], a 5'9” shooting-guard, tallied 13 points and was everywhere on the court. Clay was able to finish putbacks, hit face-up jumpers and lastly, create steals and deflections. Point-guard [player_tooltip player_id='458556' first='Brynn' last='Hargrove'] scored 12 points while also dropping several sweet dimes. The 5'6” Hargrove exhibited the willingness to pass up open shots for great shots.

On the flip-side, [player_tooltip player_id='648195' first='Kjani' last='Anitielu'] led the way for the Scorpions, totaling a team-high 9 points. The 5'8” junior shooting-guard made a pair of three-pointers at the top of the key and made 3/4 free-throws. Despite logging a quiet 6 points, fellow junior [player_tooltip player_id='1259132' first='Carly' last='Conley'], a 5'10” center, maximized her opportunities with a smooth midrange jumper and other buckets around the basket.

Hobbs sweeps the regular season series with Farmington, going 2-0. Back on Dec. 28, Hobbs defeated Farmington 85-16.

The Eagles extend their winning streak to 18 games, which now dates back to Nov. 26.

As for the Scorpions, they are now in the midst of a two game skid.

NEXT UP:

Farmington (12-4) vs Rio Rancho (10-5) | 1/22 | 7 p.m.

Hobbs (18-1) vs Artesia (8-8) | 1/24 | 5:30 p.m.
