New Names to know from the West Coast Holiday Festival

Burroughs High School hosts one of the premier holiday tournaments in the LA area. Notable programs were in attendance, which created a highly competitive environment. This year's festival included several under-the-radar standouts. Keep an eye out for the ladies below as they certainly made their mark!    Kailee has a beautiful lefty-stroke with an extremely quick release. She is equally effective off-the-dribble and catch. Kailee is able to create space with a bevy of crossovers and stepbacks. Despite her scoring prowess, she plays the right way and creates opportunities for others. Ventura has had ample success this year, and Kailee's 20+ scoring performances have a lot to do with that.     Valencia High School has been a powerhouse thus far thanks to one half of their dynamic duo, Cara McKell. She's as consistent as they come. A 33 point performance on 14 shots against tourney host, Burroughs High, displayed her innate ability to get to the line. Cara is a long, versatile wing and all-around great player.     The other half of Valencia's dynamic duo is only a freshman! Kamilla has a great feel for the game at such a young age. She is a sharpshooting lefty and natural-born scorer. Kamilla sets her feet well with great mechanics and a nice follow-through. Defensively, she has a rare combination of length and anticipation. Kamilla will become a household name sooner rather than later.     Nanar's game is beautiful to watch as yet another lefty. She can be deadly from long-range. When her shot is not falling, she impacts the game in other ways. Nanar seems to always be around the ball. Natural playmaker with plenty of comfort leading full-court press breaks. The game comes easy for Nanar, and the elite guard traits are one of one.     Abbigail is a versatile wing who performed well despite Highland's tough tournament draw. She showed her indispensable value, even on a deep, talented roster. Abbigail is a shotmaker, ball handler, and facilitator with the size and athleticism to guard multiple positions. Regardless of how much she has the ball, Abbigail improves her team's chance of success in a variety of ways.     Laylah impressed despite coming off the bench for a Highland team that goes 10-deep. She has the confidence and skillset to breakout. Laylah's elite quickness, with glimpses of high-level shot making and playmaking, were hard to miss. She was very vocal in all the right ways. The talent as a lead guard is certainly there, so keep an eye on her development throughout her prep career.     Long Beach State signee, [player_tooltip player_id='893635' first='Morgan' last='Mack'], should be a name to know if you don't already. Great size and strength as a natural shooting guard. She scores at all three levels and excels as an on-ball defender. Great guard rebounder with the ability to run an offense. As someone with over 1500 points and counting for her prep career, Morgan's tournament performance was not surprising whatsoever.     After a slow start in game one, Amiyya picked up the pace with 27 and 21 point performances. She can get hot in a hurry, making 7 threes in their tourney victory against Village Christian. 20ppg as a sophomore has translated to wins for Verdugo Hills. Amiyya also averages 4 steals per game. Her undersized stature does not limit her on-court dominance.     Melanie was consistent and efficient throughout the tourney. She had spurts showcasing loads of potential. Melanie is a legit 3-level scorer who cuts without the ball, makes open shots, and competes on both ends. Her long arms led to several steals defensively. If she becomes more aggressive as a scorer, expect her stock to rise dramatically!     Kristi does it all for Temple City and leads the team in all 5 major categories (points, assists, rebounds, steals, blocks). With scoring performances of 16, 22, 21, and 19 points throughout the tourney, consistency is her bread and butter. Kristi's versatility shows she can truly make an impact regardless of her role.     Exceptional shooter with a quick release. Kenia is at her best facilitating while being a long-range threat. She can pull from anywhere at anytime. Her basketball IQ is elite, and she displays this on both ends. She has a knack for keeping the defense guessing and making plays.     Brinley is very impressive as an inside scorer and rebounder (nearly 14rpg). What stood out in person was her overall defensive potential. Brinley gets off the ground fairly quickly, which leads to weak side blocks and offensive rebounds. She is a great pick-and-roll defender, hedges well, and has great recovery. Her ability to run the floor leads to easy baskets. Brinley is a name to know in the 2027 class.
