I'm always honored to cover this event in the name of Martin Luther King, Jr. hosted by St. Catherine University in St. Paul. I was there from start to finish on Monday and saw some incredible individual and team performances. Below are my top performers from the St. Kate's MLK Day Tournament.

[player_tooltip player_id='458305' first='Audrey' last='Shindelar'] – 2026 guard, Stewartville (South Dakota State)

The South Dakota State commit showcased her size and athleticism, leading the game with a total of 19 points against Becker in the opening match of the MLK tournament at St. Kates. During the first half, she focused on facilitating the offense, helping set up her teammates, including her younger sister, [player_tooltip player_id='991231' first='Danika' last='Shindelar'], who contributed 8 points in that half. In the second half, Audrey took charge, scoring 16 of her 19 points in a display of versatility, including two three-pointers. Her impressive leaping ability allowed her to stop quickly and shoot over the defense with ease. It was just another day at the office for Shindelar.

[player_tooltip player_id='339214' first='Jayci' last='Rath'] – 2026 forward, Stewartville (St. Thomas)

The University of St. Thomas commit is often a matchup nightmare whenever she steps onto the court. The crafty left-handed player excels off the dribble, can dominate in the post, and is money from the free-throw line. In the game against Becker, the 6-footer, much like her dynamic teammate Shindelar, made a significant impact in the second half, scoring 12 of her 18 points to propel Stewartville to a 62-55 victory over the Bulldogs. In addition to her scoring, Rath also got after it defensively, securing key steals and rebounds that prevented Becker from mounting a comeback.

[player_tooltip player_id='764190' first='Eilidh' last='Mrnak'] – 2027 guard, Becker

While sisters [player_tooltip player_id='884449' first='Andie' last='Changamire'] and [player_tooltip player_id='630285' first='Adele' last='Changamire'] typically command most of the spotlight for Becker – and rightly so – this particular game belonged to Mrnak, a 5'9 combo guard. The 2027 prospect capitalized on Andie's ability to drive to the basket, drawing defenders and contributing a game- and season-high 20 points in a fiercely contested matchup that came down to the wire. Eilidh recorded an impressive 5-of-9 shooting from beyond the arc and 6-of-11 from the field, along with grabbing 4 rebounds. This performance marked a breakthrough of sorts for Mrnak, who has been averaging just under 6 points per game this season.

Mya Nunez-Williams – 2025 guard, St. Croix Lutheran

It's well known that St. Croix Lutheran thrives on the performance of their dynamic duo, juniors [player_tooltip player_id='362575' first='Callie' last='Oakland'] and [player_tooltip player_id='472446' first='Amaya' last='Penn']. This game was no exception, with Oakland leading the team with 19 points and Penn adding 18. However, it was the play of the smaller point guard Nunez-Williams that proved crucial in securing a 67-61 victory over Cloquet. Mya contributed 13 points, 7 assists, and 6 steals, including a key steal late in the game that resulted in a fast-break layup, helping to thwart a strong comeback attempt by the Lumberjacks. It's always rewarding to see the lesser-known players shine in the spotlight.

[player_tooltip player_id='433933' first='Chloe' last='Johnson'] – 2028 guard, Duluth Marshall

The top-rated player in the 2028 class delivered an impressive performance with 27 points, 10 rebounds, and 8 assists, leading Duluth Marshall to a 72-65 win over Rochester Lourdes. While such numbers are typical for the freshman phenom from Duluth, it's her remarkable trust in her teammates at such a young age that truly sets her apart. She understands that opposing teams will often focus on limiting her impact, yet she consistently finds ways to contribute. Junior guard [player_tooltip player_id='927227' first='Cairin' last='Berger'] benefited greatly from Johnson's astute playmaking, scoring 19 points as the sharp-shooting guard consistently received the ball in prime scoring positions. This victory brought the Hilltoppers record to 12-6 for the season.

[player_tooltip player_id='782562' first='Lesedra' last='Williams'] – 2026 forward, Minnetonka

The 6'2" forward is incredibly reliable around the basket, and if she does miss, she's typically right there to grab the offensive rebound and score on the put-back. This was evident in what became the standout game of the night at the MLK Classic hosted at St. Kate's. Williams led the Skippers with a team-high 17 points and made her presence felt on both ends of the court, using her long arms to deflect passes, alter shots, and grab rebounds. Her deceptive strength forced the Redhawks defense to work hard on every possession to contain her and prevent her from dominating the game.

[player_tooltip player_id='734360' first='Gigi' last='Coleman'] – 2027 guard, Minnehaha Academy

Yes, we recognize that [player_tooltip player_id='252379' first='Addison' last='Mack'] delivered an impressive performance with 38 points, 9 rebounds, and 7 assists, playing a crucial role in Minnehaha Academy's overtime thriller against Minnetonka. However, it was Coleman's defense on Skipper standout guard [player_tooltip player_id='252383' first='Lanelle' last='Wright'] that truly made the difference. Defending Wright full court for an entire game is no easy task, but Coleman rose to the challenge. While it was a collective team effort, Coleman spearheaded the defensive strategy, holding Wright to just 10 points and making it challenging for Skipper ballhandlers to find their rhythm. In addition to her defensive prowess, Coleman also added 10 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists. Although the spotlight often shines brightest on the leading scorers, contributions like Gigi's are essential and should not be overlooked.

[player_tooltip player_id='589280' first='Lyric' last='Singleton'] – 2026 guard, Park Center

It has been a challenging season for the Pirates, but the junior guard has emerged as a consistent bright spot for the once-renowned program. Singleton's primary mission is to penetrate to the basket, and she frequently succeeds in achieving that goal. Although the final score against the Providence Lions was somewhat lopsided, Singleton initially caused significant problems for the defense by relentless attacking the rim and drawing fouls. She led the Pirates with 16 points, while senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='717675' first='Harmoni' last='Mayberry'] added to the effort with four three-pointers for a total of 12 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='252381' first='Maddyn' last='Greenway'] – 2026 guard, Providence Academy (Kentucky)

The University of Kentucky commit came impressively close to a triple-double, finishing the game with 33 points, 17 assists, and 9 rebounds. No matter who she's facing, Greenway plays with the intensity as if it's a state championship on the line. In a moment during the first half when both teams were getting a bit sloppy and some opposing fans attempted to rattle Maddyn, she responded by sinking a deep three-pointer from just outside the St. Kate's logo, followed by a playful kiss blown to the hecklers, which ignited the crowd. The Lions showcased a balanced offense, with five players scoring in double figures, including seniors [player_tooltip player_id='296515' first='Hope' last='Counts'] and [player_tooltip player_id='836004' first='McKenna' last='Schaefer'], who contributed 16 and 20 points, respectively.
