Basketball Scouts: Rising Stars and Game Analysis

Don't get me wrong, seeing someone put up points, grab boards, etc. is great. I personally look at how a kid handles the little nuances of the game. How do they move? How do they create? Are they shifty? What led to this bucket? Questions like these are what come to my mind as I scout a kid and measure their impact on a game.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>All throughout the state, I see the talent we have. Yes, I am biased, I am from this state, love the game of basketball, and would take any one of our kids and put them in a dogfight against another state's best. That's just me. With our vast array of talent out there, it's always good to see who does what on a consistent basis and who is on the rise. Each week, there are tons of young ladies who are putting in the work. Their various local publications have player of the week and so forth, honoring the top talent in the area. Mind you, a lot of kids could be voted on weekly because that's who they are, but we must highlight everyone and inspire the play because we have some great ball players here in the volunteer state.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>As you all know we are coming down to the final stretch of the regular season. Winning in the regular season is one thing, but dominating the postseason is a whole different ball game. The level of play is turned up a notch especially when things are at stake. As the end approaches, I would like to highlight some top players from around the state based on their story of play from the previous week. She is a stretch 4 that can knock it down from 3, or battle and be physical on the interior. She competes from tip to finish, giving a solid effort on both ends of the floor. Jane is nice from the mid-range, can get trash buckets by putting missed shots back, has nice handles, and can exploit various places, just know I can sit here and compliment her game all day and you could see the value she brings to her ball club. Her stock is on the upswing. She had a double-double last week pouring in 17pts and 12 boards. She was active and the impact she had on the game shows the value she brings to her team. She is a talented individual who does the little things well and hustles all the time. She's an exceptional talent who thrives in very meaningful situations. Don't get me wrong, she plays hard throughout the season. But what I am saying is when it's tournament time and there are clutch moments, this kid becomes laser-focused and so locked in, good luck on trying to slow her time. She's been there, done that, battle-tested. A hungry individual who won't be denied. She's an X factor who is on a mission to not only dominate the competition but to also bring the gold ball back to West Tennessee. This young lady has been scorching the net and putting in that work on the boards. She averages 15 ppg a game, but tossed in 21 points and grabbed 10 boards in her team's victory over Adamsville. Performances such as these ignite runs for a club. Her style of play helps uplift her ball club and elevates everyone around her. She's shifty to where she can attack gaps to get downhill. She can spot up on the arc to knock the 3 ball down. What I love most about her game is her ability to make sound decisions and facilitate the ball to the hot hand. She doesn't shy away on the defensive end either, going hard against whoever her assignment may be. This kid is talented and she continues to develop into a fundamentally sound ball player every year.
