Exciting Matchups at Fisk University: February Frenzy Preview

It's a packed gym here today, and we see the following matchups take place to go to the February Frenzy.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Clarksville vs. Silverdale Baptist</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Franklin Road Christian vs. Union City</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>In these matchups, we have some talented individuals who will be taking the hardwood. Each team is very talented in its own right, however, it will be about who has the most “will” when these teams get into action.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Looking at the Clarksville vs. Silverdale matchup. This game will be about defense. Both teams in the regular season put up a good bit of points. However, it will be which team will be willing to slow down the opposition. Both Clarksville and Silverdale have great guard play along with a solid inside presence.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>In the Franklin Road Christian vs. Union City, matchup will be about heart. Both schools may not be known as dominant powerhouses in their prospective leagues, but this year they have come out of the gates ready to take action. Franklin Road Christian, who plays in the TISSAA league will look to go up against a solid Union City who plays TSSAA ball. She can score from all three levels and has a quick first step that she utilizes to get past defenders to either finish at the rim or kick out for a 3. Shoots from all 3 levels at a high clip, can create her shot off the bounce, and finish in the paint. She too can assist like the best of them. She is a double-digit scoring threat who gets after it. Defensively, look for her to contribute by getting stops as well as competing on the boards. She has a nice bag of back-to-the-basket moves, is physical working block to block, has a nice jumper from the short corner and elbows, and really truly is a monster on the boards. She brings the juice on both ends of the floor and is the captain of the Golden Tornadoes ball club. She has a tremendous work ethic and you can tell in her style of play she is passionate about the game. The Wildcats dominated early and outscored the Seahawks in the first three quarters. They owned the boards and were getting 2nd chance opportunities. Franklin Road started the half strong, but Union City was able to slow down their comeback efforts.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Union City will look to take on Clarksville in the next round in order to compete in the February Frenzy.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
