[player_tooltip player_id='1192352' first='Halynn' last='Hughes'] and the Overton High School Eagles were all gas and no brakes in their contest against SEM last night. In the first half they scored 29 points and they followed that up with 39 in the second, winning the game 68-34. Hughes, a 5'7 SG, put together quite the stat line in the process. She ended with 17 points (7-13), 15 rebounds, 1 assist, and 2 steals. This was the best stat line of the game between both teams. Hughes scored from all three offensive levels and she she did it with ease. Not to mention, grabbing 15 boards isn't that insane of a number now a days but when you consider that this is someone doing it under 5'10, it's noteworthy. Overton is going to be a group to watch as we move forward. Not only do they have Halynn as a freshman currently, they also have her sister, who is two years older. Both of these prospects know how to compete at a high level and I'm excited to observe what they do as they continue to grow.

Elkhorn Valley recorded their 22nd win of the Winter last night, capping off an undefeated regular season at 22-0 as we move into the Playoffs. Elkhorn Valley has several different producers across the floor. The one out of their 2027 Class that is intriguing is SG, [player_tooltip player_id='817137' first='Cameron' last='Rutjens']. Rutjens has good height at 5'9 and she can produce off of the ball at a steady rate. She isn't the type that needs to possess it for long periods of time to convert on the offensive end and that is something important to note. 95% of the game is played without the ball so the less time you need to produce, the better in most situations. With her size, she also is someone that does well on the defensive end. She can switch onto smaller guards or she can stay on bigger prospects that might go toward the hoop more often. This versatility is another ability to note. In last night's victory, Rutjens filled up the stat sheet with 19 points (6-14), 4 assists, and 3 steals. A notable line in a 18 point victory.

The Tri County Trojans started off their contest on fire yesterday against Sterling. The Trojans began things on an 18-8 run in the first quarter and never looked back. The presence that was holding down the lane for them was freshman [player_tooltip player_id='1192355' first='Sayber' last='Hoesche']. Hoesche competes more at the CG/SF position with her movability. Her skill-set is a mixture of a guard with her quick first step and a post with her demeanor. Last night, she recorded 11 points on 100% shooting from the field. The only thing she missed was a free throw. She also recorded 5 rebounds and 3 assists, showing to everyone watching that she isn't just a scoring threat. This may be the first time we have heard of Hoesche but if she continues to compete like this, it won't be the last.

O'Neil High School registered another victory last night over Ord High School, 52-46. In this battle, the leader for the Eagles was [player_tooltip player_id='865311' first='Hannah' last='Hilker'] once again. Hiker is a SG, that takes a good volume of her team's shot attempts each contest. This seems to be the job of Hilker within her team's system this year. On the Winter she is averaging a team leading 16.7 PPG, while the next highest sits at 5.5 PPG, just giving you an idea of what the situations looks like. In the right situations and with the correct path, this is a group that could surprise some team's these next couple of weeks. They just need to stay mentally locked in moving forward.
