Theres been some terrific basketball being played across the region, but this February specifically has been special to start the month. This is a quick update on some of the headlining news from across the states. Below are 5 girls that've been flourishing and merit the mentioning.

Use code MBG30 for 30% off your first purchase of any subscription.

[player_tooltip player_id='998669' first='Jill' last='Dingler'] (2026) | CG | Darrow

Jill has been playing fantastic basketball recently. Darrow took a trip to Ohio and she was great in a pair of games. In the first matchup vs Kings Christian, Dingler had 25 pts, 4 reb, 3 ast and 4 steals. In the second game vs Western Reserve she had 27 pts, 2 reb, 1 ast plus a staggering 6 steals. All the more remarkable was her ability to have such standout games in a high-energy out of state tournament.

[player_tooltip player_id='1045923' first='Koharu' last='Tanaka'] (2027) | 5'6 CG | Dana Hall

Koharu scored an influential 24 points in last night's game vs Bancroft. The fast-paced guard brought her high-spirited game and really established herself in this one. She led her team to a victory by adding 15 crucial points in the final quarter. She got to the line consistently and hit 7 of 8 in the closing minutes to give Dana Hall the win 58-44. The marquee performance was one of many this season for her. Tanaka has looked to be in top form lately; she's been attracting attention and proving to be a forcible player for Dana Hall.

Kirsten is coming off the heels of a career night where she scored 33 points. McKay has been a leading factor for the squad after coming into her own last season. In her sophomore year, she averaged 18 ppg, 4 spg, 5 rpg and 2 apg. Her impressive numbers as a sophomore had her entering this season with a lot of eyes watching. In the February 3rd game vs. Seekonk, she scored 20 points and led Stoughton down the stretch. Even though her production on offense is notable, what's more impressive is the energy she plays with on the defensive side of the ball. After scoring baskets, Kirsten wastes no time celebrating and immediately engages the inbounding pass or she swiftly sprints back to her halfcourt position. She has a no-nonsense approach that gives her this gritty edge over opponents. Overall, McKay is a mighty player that will give Stoughton various advantages in the latter part of the season.

[player_tooltip player_id='351875' first='Alannah' last='Morantus'] (2027) | 6'0 PG | Cushing

Alannah was absolutely fantastic in her last game vs WMA. The premier star guard has been one of the best players in her class and this latest game helped stamp that position. Morantus had herself a day with 24 pts, 5 ast, 4 reb plus an additional steal. She's scored 30+ not too long ago, on fairly efficient shooting splits too.

Her powerful play can be broken down in many ways, but to keep it short, Alannah's concentrated efforts in combination with her carefully crafted skillset and next level athleticism manifest into one of the most dangerous threats in NEPSAC. It's uncustomary to see a player of her caliber have this level of production, yet still have such a high celling.

[player_tooltip player_id='298229' first='Isys' last='Dunphy'] (2026) | 5'10 Forward | Cushing

Dunphy has been a foundational piece for Cushing this season. She's tasked with guarding multiple positions in isolation possessions, crashing the glass, finishing underneath the rim, playing help-side or providing strongside defense, creating for herself from the nail and even knocking down some stationary jumpers. The versatility Isys brings is something a lot of scholarship level schools will be looking for. She's a player that knows exactly where to be, when she needs to be there. Night in and night out Dunphy comes to play. She has all the qualities a hardworking forward require to be successful. Not only is Dunphy a high yielding player, but she also has a team-first mentality that's incredibly beneficial for the team. With the momentum picking up for Isys this February, Cushing will be an interesting team to watch as the season gets tighter.
