The semifinal section of the SCISA 2A bracket began filling up with Dorchester Academy's name as one of the schools on said bracket. McClure made sure of it by leading her Raiders with 16 points to an emphatic victory to dispatch its Andrew Jackson Academy adversaries from postseason play. Standing at 5-foot-8, McClure displays the efficiency of an upperclassman despite being so young. She is an accurate shot-maker from long range and understands the art of getting out in transition. McClure can be a tall task for opponents to game plan against on the defensive end of the floor as well. She has competed in a variety of sports throughout her athletic career – including softball and volleyball.

Laurens Academy got some stiff competition in the form of Charleston Collegiate on Monday at Cardinal Newman. Because of the 22 points that Bruyere placed on the scoreboard, the Crusaders prevailed over the Sundevils by a final of 49-43 – and clinched a date with Dorchester Academy on Thursday at Wilson Hall. Bruyere is listed as a two guard on the Laurens Academy roster, but she made plenty of plays near the rim, practically playing the role of a four or a five. She will collect her fair share of steals as a defender and can also showcase how accurate she is as a 3-point shooter as well.

Vuyiv's Charleston Collegiate assembling may not have got the result it was looking for against Laurens Academy, but she and the Sundevils gave the Crusaders everything and then some in what was a 49-43 decision. Vuyiv finished with 17 points. Alongside her scoring and efficiency, Vuyiv's ability to organize an offense in a half court set make her very formidable as a one. Her first basket of the game was a highlight as she crossed the 1,000-point plateau – as a sophomore. She is a multi-sport athlete who also thrives on the volleyball court alongside her basketball heroics. Her time in the AAU realm has included her sporting the uniform of [program_tooltip program_id='713840' first='Charleston' last='Raptors'].

At the half, Cross Schools – last season's 1A state champions – had already built a 22-12 lead on Oakbrook Prep. Maldonado particularly came through in the second half to ensure the Stingrays' berth in the 2A semifinals was as secure as secure could get. She concluded her evening with 19 points to lead Cross Schools to a commanding 62-24 win over the Knights. Included in what Maldonado got accomplished was proficiency from behind the 3-point line – she had three of the team's five successful attempts from deep. Maldonado is one of only two juniors on this season's Cross Schools roster.

Melton's Lee Academy assembling has been one of the teams to beat all season long in the 2A ranks. The Cavaliers proved that once again when they outlasted Our Lady of the Rosary by a final score of 38-28 to earn a date with Cross Schools in the semifinals. Melton would conclude her evening having scored 14 points. She was briefly removed from the game in the first quarter because of injury but re-entered the contest. Lee Academy was successful on three of its 3-point attempts – all of them were Melton's. She also maintains a high level of activity even when the ball is not in her possession. An efficient organizer of an offense as well as a ball handler, Melton ought to be the conversation when mentioning signature breakout freshman seasons.

On paper, Strelow's Our Lady of the Rosary team entered Monday's get-together with Lee Academy as an underdog. Because of her stellar play, she gave the Lions a fighting chance at pulling off the upset. Her team was on the bad end of a 38-28 decision to the Cavaliers, but Strelow led her team with 16 points. She stands at 5-foot-7 and has plenty of ball handling capabilities in addition to speed and quickness with the ball in her hands. Strelow also has no issue with drawing contact that can place her at the free throw line. She effectively combines talent with the attributes she has acquired being a seasoned veteran.
