Nothing came easy for the No. 1 - seeded Moundridge Wildcats in their opening Class 2A State Tournament victory over TMP-Marian.

The Wildcats fed off the free-throw line in the first half and then pulled away in the second half to cap off a 62-50 win.

Here is a look at four athletes who played pivotal roles in the Wildcats' first-round win in Manhattan.

[player_tooltip player_id='719106' first='Cammi' last='Unruh'], 5'8”, PG, Moundridge, ‘26

Unruh will score the tough baskets, and she moves well to her left and has a special burst to her game. She had an impressive coast-to-coast drive in the second quarter that gave the Wildcats the momentum to finish out the first half. She is ranked No. 10 overall in the Kansas Class of 2026. She is dangerous with the ball and finds open space. Unruh took over the game in the second half and finished with a team-high 26 points, shooting 9-of-13 from the field and 8-of-10 from the free-throw line.

[player_tooltip player_id='836267' first='Hattie' last='Hecox'], 5'10”, PG, Moundridge, ‘27

Hecox loves to drive the ball, and she can score from three levels. She is super aggressive and always looks to score first but finds open teammates. She can play at any pace and really hurt teams in transition. Hecox likes to run the point, but I also see her as a possibility to play small forward for a college team. She is ranked No. 65 overall in the Kansas Class of 2027. She finished with 11 points, shooting 4-of-10 from the field.

[player_tooltip player_id='881007' first='Macy' last='Kaminkow'], 5'11”, PF, Moundridge, ‘26

Kaminkow is strong and long. She enjoys rebounding. She does not have to be a top scorer on this team, but she can chip in points around the rim. The Wildcat sophomore extends possessions and can score with offensive rebounding ability. She can also force turnovers and created a key tie-up for a jump ball late in the game. She is ranked No. 164 overall in the Kansas Class of 2026. She finished with nine rebounds and six points.

[player_tooltip player_id='1216018' first='Aspyn' last='Stos'], 5'9”, PF, Moundridge, ‘27

Stos is a young paint monster to watch closely moving forward. She is a physical post and works hard to get solid defensive and rebounding position. Her rebounding prowess is just not about her size but also her willingness to hustle. She finished the game with five rebounds and two points.
