<p>Four teams stepped onto the court Friday, dreaming of competing for a D2 MHSAA State Championship on Saturday. Tecumseh defeated Frankenmuth 52-43 and Grand Rapids West Catholic defeated Detroit Edison Prep 54-48. Here are a few performers who stepped up for their teams in the semifinals.</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Anna had the performance of a lifetime as West Catholic upset the defending State champs 54-48 in the semifinals. Anna drove downhill to score a left-handed layup and pivoted to score a floater off two feet in the first quarter. She grabbed a steal and buried a wing three in the second quarter as West Catholic trailed 14-26 at the half. Anna went scorched earth in the second half as the Falcons mounted an epic comeback. She buried four triples and five of six free throws. Anna dropped in a floater after securing a huge offensive rebound, which gave West Catholic the lead late. She made a great read to score a back-cut layup and buried a long jumper for two more points. Anna ended the night with a game-high 29 points and six rebounds vs. DEPSA.</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Elisha converted several tough layups through contact for West Catholic after driving with determination to the basket. She drained a long triple and showed her athleticism by leaping way up to finish a layup. Elisha battled to secure rebounds and contributed in multiple categories with 11 points, seven rebounds, and three assists. </p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Nichole is known for her impact in the paint but became a perimeter threat during the semifinals. She made West Catholic pay for leaving her open in the corner by burying three triples in the first quarter. Nichole battled to secure an offensive rebound and scored the put-back off the glass. Nichole banked in a mid-range turnaround jumper, scored a floater, and added a strong drop-step and one finish. She blocked a shot on the defensive end and gave the Pioneers her best with a team-leading 23 points. </p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Isis was a Miss Basketball Finalist and displayed her unique athleticism for DEPSA during the semifinals. Isis swiped the ball away to score multiple layups, used a crossover to beat her defender for a layup, and knocked down two free throws. Isis created open shots for teammates with her shifty drives. She gave the Pioneers 12 points, seven assists, five rebounds, and four steals vs. West Catholic.</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Clare continued her productive postseason for Frankenmuth vs. Tecumseh during the semifinal. She used good footwork to finish a step-through off the glass and added an offensive rebound put back plus a left-handed layup off two feet. Clare became a rim protector, aggressively swatting shots in the lane. She gave the Eagles a spark with her perimeter shooting--burying three triples. Clare led Frankenmuth with 15 points, adding four rebounds, and four blocks. </p>

Addi protected the basket on defense with her shot blocking and converted four free throws. The impact she had on both ends tilted the game in Tecumseh's favor. Addi scored a game-high 16 points with 15 rebounds and four blocks. </p>

Her 3-point shooting was crucial as she buried a game-high four triples (4/6). Ashlyn drove to the basket to score a soft floater and handled the ball with poise for the Indians. She ended the game with 14 points.</p>

Chloe dropped in a floater off the dribble and converted three free throws at the line. She scored seven points with an impressive total of 11 rebounds. </p>
