OK let's be real, shall we? Today's post-season accolades might be the least surprising awards in the history of uneventful honors. After all, we've been watching and admiring and writing for years about both of them. We've written thousands of words this season alone. So let's not waste any extra time and energy telling you what every girls basketball fan in Minnesota already knows. The Prep Girls Hoops Class 2A Player of the Year Award goes to… drumroll please… [player_tooltip player_id='252381' first='Maddyn' last='Greenway'] of Providence Academy. And runner-up honors? Surprise, surprise it's [player_tooltip player_id='205310' first='Tori' last='Oehrlein'] of Crosby-Ironton.

Legends. Both of them. Greenway is ranked #1 in the Class of 2026 and has committed to Kentucky. Oehrlein is #1a and has verballed to the University of Minnesota. The only thing that really separates the two are Maddyn's plethora of state championship trophies. Yes, they are very different types of players. Maddyn is the swashbuckling, go-for-broke streetfighter. Tori is the cold, calculating warrior who dominates on both ends of the floor.

Back in November we wrote a preview of Class 2A for the upcoming season titled, Preview: Generational talent defines Class 2A. Everything we said nearly five months ago still applies today. The stars we wrote about then are the stars we've selected now as members of our Class 2A All-State Team. We'll lose [player_tooltip player_id='252379' first='Addison' last='Mack'] (Maryland), [player_tooltip player_id='296515' first='Hope' last='Counts'] (Lipscomb), [player_tooltip player_id='296528' first='Sam' last='Wills'] (Harvard) and others to graduation but Maddyn, Tori, and [player_tooltip player_id='433933' first='Chloe' last='Johnson'] will continue to entertain us in the coming year. Check back 12 months from now and don't be surprised if the same names earn the same honors in 2026. Congrats to both. They've earned it!
