April 25th has come, which means the girls' grassroots season is in full-swing, and the first "live" period is upon us. As there are any number of tournaments across the country currently taking place, many of the Indiana grassroots clubs have sent teams to The Clash in Hamilton, Ohio, at the Spooky Nook Champion Mill location. After watching roughly 15 hours of basketball all day Friday, below is a look at seven ladies who proved to be very entertaining with their play when I was able to see them.

[player_tooltip player_id='486540' first='Whitney' last='Ankenbruck'], 2026, 5-9 SF/SG, Homestead H.S.
- The way Whitney came out shooting this afternoon, you would have thought she was still uncommitted and trying to impress everyone in the gym. She was lights out with a quick trigger, she was flying around the floor making constant hustle plays, and she showed the ability to play under pressure. Oh, and yes, she has been committed for some time to Indiana Wesleyan University.

[player_tooltip player_id='624877' first='Juliana' last='Davis'], 2026, 5-7 CG, Madison Consolidated H.S.
- Juliana was electric in the portion I got to see her. She is so long & wiry, smooth & fluid, but she has a nice little burst to her, plus she's a natural scorer and able to finish with either hand on both sides of the basket. Additionally, she is an accurate perimeter shooter, a solid ball-handler and facilitator, plus she can get after defensively on the ball or from the "help" side of the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id='492318' first='Macy' last='DeLisle'], 2026, 5-8 SG, Speedway H.S.
- I haven't seen Macy in about a year, and she has really developed her game nicely. She is extremely long & wiry, fluid, and she shoots a very accurate shot from the perimeter, and with a quick release. I think what impressed me most, though, was the chip on her shoulder she seemed to play with. The game got physical, and she got physical back, she was aggressive, and she played tough.

[player_tooltip player_id='1003213' first='Jaylynn' last='Goodwin'], 2026, 5-2 PG, George Rogers Clark H.S. (KY)
- This was easily my favorite player of the day, and it was in the last game of the day. Jaylynn isn't very big, but she is maybe the quickest prospect in the event. I didn't keep count, but it seemed like she possibly had a dozen or more steals and probably twice as many deflections on passes. She was an absolute menace to her opponent, plus she played a nice offensive floor game at PG.

[player_tooltip player_id='567137' first='Eva' last='Herbert'], 2026, 5-11 SF, Fairfield H.S.
- Eva has flashed a great deal of upside for the next level, and Friday she was everywhere fulfilling that potential. She is another extremely long wing, she is much more physical than she looks, and she is willing to get inside and mix it up on the boards or even defensively. But she has perimeter skill, and she has turned herself into a more aggressive, more capable multilevel weapon.

[player_tooltip player_id='486483' first='Paiton' last='Mitchell'], 2026, 5-6 PG, Castle H.S.
- If you have read our content over the years, it's no secret I've been a longtime fan of Paiton's. She is a strong, compact, active, and feisty competitor. Defensively, she does a nice job of using angles and understanding how to cut off drives while still being able to contest the jumper. Offensively, she has always been a willing passer, but she's also becoming a much more comfortable, natural scorer,

[player_tooltip player_id='743672' first='Maggie' last='Simons'], 2027, 5-10 SG, Nicholas County H.S. (KY)
- Maggie is another player from the South in Kentucky who stood out to me Friday morning. She has a solid to strong, athletic frame, length, and she plays with a nice motor. She is solid with the ball in her hands, she can create a little in the half-court or push in transition, plus she is a quick-release shooter who needs very little space or time to get her feet set and bury long jumpers.
