Tonight, I started my AAU season on the first day of the PGH Victory Region Kick-Off. There were only three game slots tonight, but there were plenty of solid kids to see at Wintrust. In the three games I saw, there were a few kids I wanted to highlight. So I'll have eight kids I'll discuss and get posted tomorrow morning.

[player_tooltip player_id='914989' first='Claudia' last='Jenny']

The Edgerton native is a competitive kid who controls the game when the ball is in her hands. She has a poise that's more than beyond her years. She sees the game as someone who's played for decades and isn't shy about telling her teammates to be in the spots they need for whatever set they want to run. Jenny is a solid shooter from the perimeter and will pull up when defenses go under screens. However, Jenny is mindful of finding her rolling bigs when they find space on their dives to the rim.

Emma Briggs

The Benet Academy big had a solid day around the rim. Briggs is a physical presence around the rim who overwhelmed opposing bigs. She's also a fluid athlete for a kid with plenty of physicality. There aren't many good one-person matchups for her. I'm a fan of her game, and it's not all that surprising that there are a few D1s who've offered her at this point. I'm sure there will be more interest as the year goes on.

Danyella Mporokoso

Each time I see Mporokoso play, she plays well. The Waubonsie Valley guard is a consistent perimeter threat, and she may have made five or six three-pointers today. Anytime she had room, it felt like it went in. However, she looked more aggressive getting downhill, and she got to the free-throw line a handful of times and continued her onslaught. I always enjoy watching her play.

[player_tooltip player_id='400915' first='Mikaia' last='Litza']

Litza, a reigning D2 State Champion, has a smooth game, and it looks easy for her in a setting meant to be chaotic. The Mac Irvin guard was part of a run in the first half that gave her team a significant lead, and her ability to create off the dribble allowed her to generate east offense for herself and her teammates. Sometimes, she looks like she's playing in slow motion, and then you see her skip past a solid perimeter defender and realize she's one of the best kids at playing at different paces in the region. She may not be a guard with plenty of size, but coaches will watch her this summer.
