The 2025 Cagers Invitational was a great experience again this year. 26 different travel clubs attended with college coaches from D2, NAIA, D3, and JUCO programs recruiting both days. There was comprehensive live media coverage both days by LBI and PGH at the tournament, with 20 hours of in-court coverage by PGH this weekend! The attending teams truly received the best possible tournament coverage at the event–every 2029-2026 team was evaluated and watched this weekend. Nearly 60 prospects will be included in my post-tournament write-ups this week, with nearly half being written about for the very first time. That's what Prep Girls Hoops Michigan is all about–discovering new prospects from every club in the state who have the potential to play college basketball at any level. The Cagers Invitational is the perfect exposure tournament for most teams in the state. The organization, staff, format, and competition are terrific. I will continue to support it annually, and I hope to see independent travel clubs take advantage of this great event in 2026! Coming to this tournament gives your players a great chance to put their best abilities on display in front of college scouts, coaches, and trusted media sources. Why Should My Club Attend?

The 2029 games were some of the most competitive and exciting matchups at the Cagers Invitational. Their energy and passion were sky high, which made the games so enjoyable to watch. Several middle school guards in the 2029 and 2030 classes had me on the edge of my seat. Here are the guards who grabbed my attention over the weekend with their playmaking abilities on the court.

Andie looks and plays with confidence above her age. She rocked a headband with a shooter sleeve during games, and her style suited her talent perfectly. Andie motored down the court to score a highlight reel euro step scoop layup and drove the length of the floor for another layup. She penetrated the gap with a spin dribble and kicked the ball out to a perimeter shooter. Andie showed off her 3-point range with a swish up top and added a college range bomb from beyond the arc. Andie used her length to block shots and battled to secure offensive rebounds. The physical traits and fundamental skills she showed for Mid-Michigan Excel at the Cagers Invitational have me thinking Andie is going to be a future star at the high school level.

Sophia was impressive when I saw her for the first time at Winter Series, and she was an impactful guard again for [program_tooltip program_id='712670' first='Michigan' last='Storm Elite GUAA'] 2029 at the Cagers Invitational. Sophia gave the Storm a boost by draining corner triples and shifted gears with her crossovers to get by defenders. She knocked down mid-range pull-up jumpers off the dribble and handled the ball with confidence.

Au'Bree was an exciting point guard to watch on [program_tooltip program_id='962114' first='Lady' last='FVV'] 2029 at the Cagers Invitational. Her athleticism, toughness, quickness, and playmaking abilities were impossible to miss. The first moment Au'Bree impressed me was her sportsmanship. She fully committed to blocking a shot, and after the hard foul, helped her opponent to her feet. Au'Bree dangled the ball on a string. She used an inside-out dribble to get by her defender on a drive and later added an inside-out crossover combination to create separation. She made multiple athletic blocks and turned up the heat with her relentless ball pressure on defense. Au'Bree swished her free throws with confidence at the line and showed her strength with a powerful and-one layup off two feet. She has a bright future ahead, and I can't wait to see Au'Bree compete at the high school level.

Logyn looks like she's going to be a serious prospect in the upcoming 2029 class. Her length, shooting accuracy, finishing dexterity with both hands around the rim, and confidence handling the basketball immediately stood out on the court. Logyn caught my attention immediately after she scored a layup off the glass and immediately pointed to her teammate to celebrate her pass--you don't see that kind of humility often. She completed a reverse layup, scored several layups, blocked shots, and dropped in a baseline floater with a soft touch off the dribble. Logyn is a deadly 3-point shooter. She swished many triples off the catch and the dribble with textbook mechanics. Logyn was aggressive on defense, ripping the ball away for steals, and worked hard to stay in front of the ball. One of her best plays was a fake pass left-handed and one-layup going full speed in transition.

Natalie showed plenty of promise for [program_tooltip program_id='714460' first='Michigan' last='Magic'] 2029 at the Cagers Invitational.
Mekai was an exciting and dynamic guard for [program_tooltip program_id='962114' first='Lady' last='FVV'] 2029 at the Cagers Invitational. Her aggressiveness on defense resulted in many steals, and she finished tough layups through contact at the rim. Mekai buried a smooth step back three up top and made a great decision to kick the ball out to her teammate on the perimeter when her driving lane closed. She used a nasty inside-out double crossover dribble to create space to drive, then dropped in a tough floater over a defender. Mekai went right back to that double-crossover dribble and finished a contested layup with touch off the glass. She pushed the ball with both hands after a steal to score a contested layup in transition and ripped the ball away to secure an offensive board, causing the defense to foul. Mekai plays hard on both ends of the court, and I can't wait to see her compete at the high school level.

Andrea was a gritty guard from Lady Comrades United 2029 who caught my attention at the Cagers Invitational. She handled the ball with confidence and showed a burst when she drove to the basket. Andrea pushed the tempo and threw strong one-handed passes to open teammates that created transition scoring opportunities. Her highlight moment came in transition as she drove fearlessly into contact to score an incredibly difficult and-one layup through the hard foul. Andrea bounced up passionately and finished the 3-point play at the free throw line. She'll be a point guard I'm eager to see more of at the high school level.

Emonie gave Lady Comrades United 2029 juice on offense at the Cagers Invitational. She drove downhill with a burst to score layups and used a nice spin dribble to create space from defenders. Emonie swished a confident corner three and used a fancy eurostep move to cause a foul.
Olivia was an impressive all-around guard prospect for [program_tooltip program_id='714460' first='Michigan' last='Magic'] 2029 at the Cagers Invitational. She pressured the ball with relentless effort on defense, which resulted in many deflections and steals. Olivia never quit on a play, she tried to steal the ball away from a rebounder and competed for 50/50 balls constantly. She swiped the ball away multiple times and outraced defenders with fast dribbles to score layups in transition. Olivia blew by her defender baseline to score an athletic and-one layup, then swished her free throw. She used quick crossovers to beat defenders and dished unselfish passes to teammates for assists. Olivia shot with balanced feet and a quick release on the perimeter, I expect her to be a great addition to her high school program next year.
