Where There's Smoke There's Fire! 17U Prospects

Grassroots held “The Smoke” live period tournament at Grand Valley State University and other nearby high schools from May 16th to 18th. The tournament featured a variety of clubs and college coaches from multiple states in attendance. Several prospects stood out as promising next-level recruits--here are some names to keep on your radar from last weekend.    Aubree's stock has continued to rise this spring after a strong high school campaign--she showed exactly why at The Smoke with [program_tooltip program_id='714462' first='Michigan' last='Premier'] 2026. Aubree threw excellent overhead passes from the perimeter to cutting teammates for assists and won her individual battles inside to secure rebounds. She used a quick behind-the-back dribble to score a nifty step-through layup and finished offensive rebound put-backs with a soft touch in traffic. Aubree converted shots with both hands at the rim and showed her ability to step out and hit shots from the perimeter.     Lilly was a tall and competitive forward who showed potential at The Smoke with Macon 6 Basketball 2026. She battled inside for rebounds and had good footwork with the ball around the basket. Lilly protected the rim and used her length to disrupt shots in the paint. She's a 6-footer I'm eager to see more of this summer.     Chloe continues to prove why she's a difference maker with another standout performance for [program_tooltip program_id='714462' first='Michigan' last='Premier'] 2026 at The Smoke. Chloe made a smart back cut read to score a layup, dished extra passes to teammates, fought for 50/50 balls, and finished a strong and-one layup off two feet. She used another backdoor cut to score off two feet and made accurate kick-out passes after driving hard to the basket. Chloe snagged many steals with her relentless pressure and was ruthless on the offensive glass. She sprinted through a pass and drove hard for a layup. Chloe plays with a competitive zeal that makes her an exciting prospect to watch.     Zion is a prospect who turned some heads with [program_tooltip program_id='714554' first='Swift' last='Elite'] White 2026 at The Smoke. She competed hard and was aggressive on both ends of the court. Zion used an excellent pro-hop dribble move to score a contested layup off two feet and shot out of a cannon with a hard drive downhill before using a quick spin move to score another layup. She buried a straightaway triple and did not shy away from contact. Zion has athleticism and toughness that will grab the attention of college coaches.     Jaedyn had a breakout tournament for Macon 6 Basketball 2026 at The Smoke. She made good decisions with the basketball and competed hard no matter what. Jaedyn transferred the ball rapidly and created separation from defenders with a variety of crossovers and jabs. She is a sniper from 3-point range with a quick release, confident follow-through, and excellent balance. Jaedyn dished dump-off passes to teammates when the defense committed to her drives and was the first girl sprinting back in transition. Her ball-handling, court vision, shooting accuracy, and all-out effort will draw attention this summer.     Keaira joined the [program_tooltip program_id='1239653' first='Michigan' last='Heat'] 2026 squad at The Smoke, and she made her presence felt. Keira caught a pass inside, used an excellent pivot to gain the edge, and finished the layup off two feet. She outworked a defender to secure an offensive rebound, then scored the putback. Keira showed off her athleticism with a fierce block and converted another layup off two feet. She demonstrated her promising potential as a next-level prospect on Saturday.     Stella is a shooter who makes teams pay when she's left open on the perimeter. She drained a smooth corner triple off the catch, buried another from the wing, and swished a filthy step-back three-pointer in a defender's face up top. Stella keeps her hands active to deflect passes on defense and finishes layups with both hands around the basket.     Leigh was effective on both ends for [program_tooltip program_id='714462' first='Michigan' last='Premier'] 2026 at The Smoke. She created space with a variety of crossover dribbles, drove hard to the basket, and finished layups well with both hands. Leigh kept her eyes up and scanned the floor to find open teammates. She threw a strong overhead pass on the money to a cutter, pursued rebounds, and created steals with her pesky defense. Leigh moved well without the ball, cutting back door when the defense denied passes on the perimeter. She has the skills and instincts needed to be a solid guard with or without the ball.
