PGHNJ just released its Watch List for the Class of 2029 with 68 rising freshmen on the initial roster. These five have stood out to me over the past few months as prospects whose stocks are soaring:

[player_tooltip player_id='1249693' first='Ellie' last='Majewski'] | Jersey Gemz

Ellie is establishing herself as one of the best shooters in her class. Her elbow jumper is nearly automatic, delivering both off the catch and stepping into her shot at a high clip. She's also a reliable spot-up shooter from distance. At nearly six-feet tall, she certainly has the size to be impactful playing 1-3. Her length allows her to get off shots over most defenders from the guard/wing positions and also be disruptive on defense, whether deflecting passes or rejecting shots.

[player_tooltip player_id='1259183' first='McKenna' last='McGlyn'] | [program_tooltip program_id='714664' first='Team' last='Sharp']

Already looking like a seasoned high school hooper, McKenna might just possess one of the highest basketball IQ's in this class. She's a sharpshooter behind the arc who releases that thing with the quickness!! When she's not burning opponents from 3-point land, you can find her blazing paths to the basket. A blur in the open court, she handles the ball really well and blitzes past everyone on her way to the cup. She plays with a lot of bounce and fire. Just FEARLESS!

[player_tooltip player_id='1240164' first='Avery' last='Goldfeder'] | [program_tooltip program_id='714654' first='NJ' last='Shoreshots']

When I tell you that Avery is READY for high school basketball! She'll join a juggernaut team in Red Bank Catholic next year and brings necessary tools to be successful. She comes equipped with a crafty layup package, an effective Euro and a pretty lefty scoop. One of her biggest strengths is transition offense. She runs the floor really well and executes while charging full steam ahead, whether its outlet passes or assertive takes to the hoop. Emerging versatility sees her score the ball inside and out, with strong 3-point shooting and an emerging hook shot in the paint.

[player_tooltip player_id='1259194' first='Jaylee' last='Jackson'] | Exodus NYC

She might emerge as one of the top guards in the Class of 2029 by the time her freshman year concludes. Exceptional ball-handling sees her shake off opponents and create space for shots; she's comfortable spotting up from just about anywhere on the floor. She embraces physicality and holds her own to shrug off defenders and impose her will. One of her strengths is being able to change speed and direction at the drop of a dime and pull up for jumpers; she can decelerate for the smooth stop-and-pop.

[player_tooltip player_id='1259157' first='Ava' last='Britt'] | [program_tooltip program_id='714664' first='Team' last='Sharp']

Ava's athleticism jumps out immediately! She's long, quick and has nice bounce to her game. She seems to be everywhere all at once, alternating between a guard and a forward, playing and defending both inside and out. A smooth operator in transition, she makes getting to the basket look effortless. Her pull-up jumper from 15-feet is quickly becoming her reliable bread & butter shot. She carries herself like a leader out there, something that will pay dividends as she steps into a new role at the high school level next Fall.
