ELV8 Summer Showcase Standouts

The ELV8 Summer Showcase was held on June 20th in Tucson, and featured some of the best up and coming players in Southern Arizona. There was a skills session to open up the night, and many players were able to navigate the session with precision and show off the individual work that they put in over the past several months. Two Showcase games followed and there were several Standouts that emerged and will undoubtedly be impact players during their High School careers.    [player_tooltip player_id='1139272' first='Brooklyn' last='Griffin'] had an excellent showing at the Showcase, earning one of the MVP honors. She showed the ability to hit from 3 point range consistently, and she also showed the ability to step up and be an offensive option when things broke down. She is a prototype Shooting Guard in my opinion, that is long and can defend several positions. She is a good ball handler and she gets up and down the floor well. She is a multi-sport athlete that continues to improve her agility, speed, and athleticism. She will be a big time impact players for Marana this season.       [player_tooltip player_id='1262103' first='Payton' last='Johnson'] made the trek to Tucson for the Showcase and she had an excellent showing the entire night. She was excellent during the skills session showing the ability to handle the ball well, and shoot from all 3 levels. She is a Combo guard that is more suited for the Shooting Guard position because of her ability to spot up and knock down the 3 point shot. She is a good defender that can defend both guard positions. She will be an impact player and a prolific scorer for Gallup this coming season on a team that made the Final 4 last year.     Maia Dominguez traveled to Tucson from Hermosillo, Mexico, and she did not disappoint. Maia is one of the top Young players in Mexico, and she showed why she will be a force for years to come. She has excellent ball handling skills and instincts for a point guard. She sees the floor well for a young player, and shows the ability to make the right play in pressure situations. She runs the floor well and can finish on the fast break. She is an excellent shooter that can shoot the 3 consistently. She will only continue to improve as Maia has an excellent work ethic and training regimen.     Annie Annisten, also known as Lil Primetime, is one of the brightest young stars in Arizona. She was an MVP for the Showcase, even though she was the youngest player in attendance. She is an incredible ball handler for her age. She is lightning fast getting up and down the floor, and she has an incredible IQ for a young player. She is a very good shooter from all 3 levels, and she is skilled at one handed floaters and euro step finishes. She is also a pest defensively and gets several steals to set up her teammates on a regular basis. Stay tuned, she will be a star in Arizona for many years to come.     Brooklyn Espinoza had a solid showing at the Showcase, displaying her tremendous athleticism and speed. Brooklyn is a 3-sport athlete that excels in Volleyball and Track as well. She is a very good defender, that can defend on the perimeter and in the post. She can guard multiple positions and has an excellent vertical jump which helps her rebounding on both ends of the floor. She is very fast getting up and down the floor and can finish on the fast break. She is still developing her offensive game but her athleticism and ability to play 3 sports is an advantage because she is a versatile athlete that can adapt and develop rapidly.
