ELV8 Summer Showcase top Performers

There were several top performers at the ELV8 Summer Showcase in Tucson, many of them performing well in both the skills session and the showcase games. Most of these athletes are just entering high school and will be making significant contributions to their respective teams immediately. Here are some of the top performers.    [player_tooltip player_id='899225' first='Zena' last='Smith'] is another multi-sport athlete that is just now tapping into her potential as a basketball player. I see her as a Shooting Guard in that she is a good spot up shooter, and can play multiple positions. She is a solid ball handler and passer, and she is a very good defender. What also stood out to me is her poise and calmness in pressure situations. She will go down as one of the top players to come out of The Gregory School.     Nai Castillo had an excellent showing at the Showcase. Nai is the prototype Power Forward. She has excellent offensive post up and finishing skills in the paint. She is a very good rebounder and defender, and she is excellent in blocking out and creating space. She moves well for a forward and she is a fierce competitor. I see her making a big impact for whatever School she chooses in her freshman year.     [player_tooltip player_id='1235447' first='Dulce' last='Moreno'] is an intriguing prospect that has tremendous upside. She is a very good shooter for her age especially from the 3 point line. She is a good ball handler and passer, and had a very good skills session at the Showcase. I see her playing the Shooting Guard position in High School. She is also a very motivated player that puts a lot of time into her game on a consistent basis. Look for her to become one of the top players in Southern Arizona in the next few years.     Leah Ball is new to Arizona, moving here from Chicago this summer. She is already making a name for herself in Southern Arizona basketball circles. She had a tremendous showing at the Showcase. She was solid in the individual skills session, and she performed very well in the showcase games. She is a Combo Forward in my opinion that can play the shooting guard as well. She is a good shooter and ball handler. She is very versatile on the offensive that is excellent on the drive to the basket. She can defend multiple positions and she is a good rebounder. She will be a big time impact player her freshman year in high school.     Daniela Nunez is an up and coming prospect that had a solid showing at the Showcase. She is a Shooting Guard that can play both the guard and forward positions. She is a very good defender and rebounder for a guard. She has an excellent shooting touch and is able to get her shots off under pressure. She will be an impact player for Desert View and be one of their team leaders. Look for her to have a breakout season this year.
