The AAU season has about a month left, and I'd like to highlight a few kids around the state who have impressed me in games I've watched these last few months. I'll be out again next weekend before the live periods in July, and before then, we'll discuss some kids who've left an impression so far this summer.

[player_tooltip player_id='751236' first='Alexis' last='Shelsta']

The Hartford guard has been a streaky shooter in her first few seasons as an Oriole. However, I've enjoyed watching her play this summer at various camps and events. Shelsta has shot the ball well in every event I've seen her play, and I thought that she's been more aggressive attacking the basket than I remember her being in the high school season and last summer. There is a chance that she breaks out this season on the offensive end with one of the best offensive threats in program history, going off to play in the Big Ten.

[player_tooltip player_id='879927' first='Londyn' last='Hollins']

A knee injury took most of Hollins' first high school season from her. She did return and play some minutes at the end of the season, but you could tell she was still getting her sea legs under her again. However, watching her play at the [program_tooltip program_id='992263' first='Wisconsin' last='Elite'] Camp was eye-catching. Her ability to create off the dribble and generate good looks at the basket for herself or her teammates as consistently as she did. The impressive thing is that she will probably continue to look better. She's only been back about four months.

[player_tooltip player_id='880249' first='Lauren' last='Mester']

The Mount Horeb guard is a skilled kid who can make things happen off the dribble. However, people will look past her because she's an undersized guard. Her AAU team has trusted her to make things happen with the ball in her hands, and she excelled at that at the [program_tooltip program_id='992263' first='Wisconsin' last='Elite'] Camp. Mester will be a player who goes to a school at the next level and finds ways to contribute.

[player_tooltip player_id='992499' first='Josie' last='Christian']

The Lomira guard had an excellent first season for the Lions and was one of the best offensive players in the Flyway Conference. I thought she looked stronger this summer than she has in the past and looked more polished on the offensive end of the floor. Christian has been a kid who's impressed me against some talented competition in UAA, and she's made the game look easy in the games I've seen her play.
