Today, I watched the end of the Battle in the Badger State and saw some players who stood out in Appleton. I thought I learned some new things about a handful of players and how some responded to adversity. Let's look at some players who had solid showings in the final weekend before the May Live Period, where players from Wisconsin will head to multiple locations around the country.

The Madison-area native is an athletic kid who can make impact plays on the defensive end of the floor. Charbonneau reads the game well and jumps passing lanes, especially playing transition defense. She can cover ground in a hurry and plays aggressively on that end of the floor. She and her [program_tooltip program_id='713045' first='Wisconsin' last='Lakers'] group were playing up an age level, which is nothing new to Charbonneau, and looked like she was more than comfortable with the physicality in the few games I saw her play.

Schliewe is a name most people in the Sheboygan area will know because of the talented players in her family who have come before her, including current St. Thomas rising sophomore, Addison Schliewe. Greta is potentially the most talented of the bunch. She has the size, skill, and athletic tools to impact the game on both ends of the floor, and let the game come to her, even though she was playing up two age levels. She will be a player we see plenty of over the next four years.

I thought the version of Luerhing I saw this weekend, particularly today, was the most aggressive version of her I've ever seen. She looked like she wanted to make something happen every time she touched the ball, and it worked as she did in the first half. She got to her spots whenever she wanted in the first half, and ran out of steam in the second, but it was a side of her I hadn't seen before, and I was impressed to say the least.

I believe Rauch may be one of the more intriguing under-the-radar rising seniors in Wisconsin. She has the size and mobility to be a somewhat versatile defender, and as she gets more comfortable in a new setting, she has the potential to improve on the end of the floor, especially because of her length. However, there aren't many perimeter threats with Rauch's size in our state, and she may be one of the players I'm most interested in seeing how things play out for in the next handful of months.
