Cal Storm 17u EYCL defeated SoCal Supreme in the Gold division championship. Sports Academy Swish won the Silver bracket and GBL Premier National won the Bronze bracket. Several up-and-coming prospects were playing up. There were so many intriguing matchups in the backcourt with highly ranked prospects as well as hidden gems.    Sarah may be the most underrated prospect in the entire 2027 class. After a breakout sophomore year in high school hoops (2x Ventura County MVP), this stat-sheet stuffer continues to impress as a scorer, facilitator, and defender. She is at her best with the ball in her hands creating for herself and others. Sarah truly checks all of the boxes. She can score on all 3 levels. Very crafty finisher who understands how drive-and-dish. Her long wingspan stands out defensively as she has shown to be a menace at times. Loads of potential for this long, versatile PG.     Skylar is a pure shooter with an extremely quick release. She can and will pull from the parking lot. Skylar moves very well without the ball and had several timely backdoor cuts. She keeps the defense honest and is also a strong finisher inside. Don't underestimate her ability on the defensive end. Skylar has the grit and competitiveness you are looking for in a perimeter defender. 2-way sharpshooter who is a flat-out gamer!     Brooklyn plays under control with great pace. The opposition cannot rattle her or speed her up because she is always in control. Brooklyn can get in the paint or hit the outside shot. Crafty finisher with a nice euro. She uses her body well and finishes through contact. She understands how to set her bigs up for easy baskets. Brooklyn has a nice middle game (reliable floater), which keeps the defense off-balance. Despite her youth, she already has the size and stature of a high major guard. Brooklyn uses her size to her advantage. Lockdown defender at multiple positions. She keeps her head up in transition and is able to see over defenders in the playmaking department. The future is very bright.     Ary's shooting ability off-the-catch AND off-the-dribble is almost Steph-like (or Caitlyn Clark-like). She understands how to use screens effectively and is a very tough cover off-the-bounce. She can get hot in a hurry and take a game over. Ary is creative and confident with the ball in her hands. Scoring the ball comes easy, but she still impacts the game in multiple ways. Expect her to have a breakout summer.     Fiona is a hidden gem from the Hollywood area. She is crafty and knows how to put the ball in the basket. Fiona has the long arms and versatility you want in a combo guard. She can shoot the ball with a nice all-around game. She moves well without the ball. Fiona had timely buckets in tough, defensive-minded games that propelled her team to a championship. Expect this rising junior's stock to blow up this summer.     Aksharaa is a high IQ guard with solid fundamentals. She has an efficient and compact shooting stroke with a good follow-through to match. Aksharaa sees the floor well and is smart with the ball in her hands. She always has her head up and understands when to pass and score. One of the top rising guards in the 2028 class, no doubt about it.     Shay is a pure shooter with an EXTREMELY quick release. She is able to find those open spots, spot-up, and knock-it-down consistently. Her speed and quickness is next-level, especially in the open court. Her instincts and acceleration allow her to jump passing lanes and force several turnovers. Shay's shooting ability spaced the floor for her teammates. Players love to play with her because she is an elite shooter who does not over-dribble. Shay plays to her strengths and is a fierce competitor.     Chasity is a gritty, sharpshooting PG who should be on your radar immediately. She compliments her teammates well and understands how to get everyone involved. This bodes well at the next level because she can play several roles depending on team needs. Chasity doesn't need the ball to make an impact, but you certainly want the ball in her hands as much as possible. Chasity makes shots off-the-catch and off-the-dribble. Very few weaknesses in her game.     Tory is one of the top scoring PGs in the 2027 class. She has a quick release on her jumper and shoots it with range. Her feel for the game is very impressive. Tory is coming off a breakout sophomore season in high school hoops and is carrying that momentum forward to grassroots season. She has a very long wingspan for her height, which allows her to create deflections on the defensive end. Tory provides plenty of firepower for the IE Sixers.     Gemma is a tough finisher inside. She can also hit the open 3. Excellent guard rebounder who plays hard on both ends. Gemma steps into her shot with confidence and the stroke is pure. You expect it to go in anytime the ball leaves her hands. Her basketball IQ was the difference maker on the court as well. One of the more underrated guards in the 2027 class.     This sharpshooting lefty is a nightmare for opposing defenses. You have to keep tabs on Maya at all times because she can break a game open in a hurry. She sets her feet well and has a beautiful stroke. Maya has excellent speed and explosion in transition. She brought the intensity on the defensive end and will continue to round-out her all-around game.     Jaylene is another pure shooter on this list who can spot-up with the best of the best. If you give her any breathing room, she will not hesitate to let-it-fly and knock-it-down. She is great off-the-ball, but can run an offense as well. Her full-court on-ball pressure was tenacious. Jaylene understands how to make the right play and takes care of the ball. Sharpshooter with a well-rounded skillset.
