SC Live Team Camp: 2027 Top Performers (Part 1)

The presence of collegiate coaches and scouts at live period events can certainly provide added motivation for players to turn in outstanding performances at said events.    After all, departing from said events with an offer or offers is certainly part of the plan.    This year's SC Live Team Camp once again returned to Riverview Park in North Augusta where there were many teams from many corners of the state on hand – and many figures from universities thinking about who to scout and offer.    We at Prep Girls Hoops were also on hand along the Savannah River for the festivities. After spotlighting a few from the rising senior class, we now turn our attention to juniors-to-be.     Blacksburg has been one of the top teams in recent seasons in the 2A ranks and the roster it appears that the Wildcats will field for the 2025-26 season will be a reason why that will continue. Gomez is confident in her playmaking abilities as evidenced by occasions where she has no problems calling for the ball. A midrange jumper is part of her offensive skillset. She is listed at 5-foot-5 but effectively thrives at the three. Gomez also has no issues drawing contact and giving her team opportunities at the free throw line. She was part of a Wildcats team that finished last season with a 18-9 record.     Some point guards are more flashy than effective. Others are more effective than flashy. Ask many a coach and they will say they prefer the latter or the former. Ross fits that description as effective execution of fundamentals is central to her game. Ross brings a heads-up attitude to the court which can positively impact a team's playmaking abilities. A 3-point shot is also part of her offensive repertoire and she can give a team worthwhile minutes as either a one or a two guard. Do not let Ross being listed at 5-foot-2 lose sight of how she brings plenty of talent to a team.     Lewter is more of a combo guard than a traditional point or shooting guard but has the height of someone who could play at the three – which she also does. Listed at 5-foot-9, she currently plays for [program_tooltip program_id='1231019' first='Upward' last='Stars 3SSB'] (Adidas). Lewter thrives as a southpaw and is a multi-sport athlete who also excels as a soccer standout in addition to her basketball accomplishments. The combination of height with length also enables Lewter to flourish as a defender as well. The rising junior that is Lewter was another reason why 5A Clover concluded last season with a 23-3 record and why the Blue Eagles will likely be a team to be reckoned with once again next season.     Given Riverview Park is only a hop, skip and a jump away from the home court of the defending 4A champions, this year's SC Live Event operated as a de facto home event for North Augusta. Walker was already dangerous for the Yellow Jackets, but she showed signs during Saturday's play that she may be more so than ever. She had a stretch during a game against one fo the state's premier 3A teams in Keenan where she did a bit of everything – getting up and down the court, displaying confidence her ability to drain 3-point attempts, rebounding and finishing strong at the rim. That versatility she consistently shows displays itself on a consistent basis and it is doing so again for North Augusta.        Assemian was a major catalyst in the successful season that was put together last year by 3A Powdersville. One of South Carolina's signature high school prospects, she has now taken her talents to the 5A realm. Assemian is a major addition to a Greenville team that made a deep run in last season's 5A Division 2 tournament. What probably garners Assemian so much attention is her ability to put points on the board from virtually anywhere on the floor. There is more than that to Assemian. She combines height with length, can come away with steals on defense and will gather a large number of rebounds. One can guess the many college coaches on hand had this standout on the brains.     The Red Raiders of Greenville put the rest of the 5A Division 2 field on notice by making a run in last season's state tournament all the way to the Upper State finals where the Red Raiders nearly defeated Greenwood. Williams displayed this past weekend why she was one of the x-factors of Greenville's deep postseason run. She approaches the game with a high basketball IQ which can particularly display itself when making transition plays. Williams understands the art of finishing strong at the rim and plays at either the one or the two. The rising junior plays for BBB Elite on the travel circuit.
