Northwood University hosted its first high school team camp from June 27th to 29th. A fantastic variety of teams attended from all across Michigan, and the OT Tournament remains a staple of the camp. The stars shone, and several unknowns proved their potential to play college basketball. Here are four freshmen who look ready to be key contributors to their varsity programs this winter.

Malia is an incoming freshman who will be an immediate impact player for Mona Shores. She dropped in a floater off two feet and shot the ball with confidence from three-point range. Malia sprinted straight to the rim in transition, caught the pass in stride, and transferred the ball immediately to score without travelling or slowing down. Malia took the ball hard to the basket, maintained her balance through contact, and knocked down free throws. She moved laterally with quick feet to cut off drives and defended in an athletic stance. Malia pushed the ball with pace in transition using both hands--changing directions with a combination of sudden crossovers and inside-out dribbles. She stood out at Northwood Team Camp and will be exciting to watch this winter.

Remmi will be an exciting playmaker to watch at Potterville this winter. She used shifty ball-handling combinations to keep defenders off balance--her dead-leg crossover dribble was absolutely filthy. Remmi caught her defender behind a screen, used consecutive inside-out dribbles to create space, and buried the triple up top. She drove by with a burst to the basket for layups and earned trips to the free throw line. Remmi forced the help defenders to commit to her drives and kicked the ball out to open shooters. She had an excellent showing at Northwood Team Camp.

Alaina is a guard who will be a great addition to the Freeland program this winter. She created space from defenders using effective pocket and dead-leg crossover dribbles. Alaina has good touch around the rim and scored a layup through hard contact. She buried a corner three with confidence and has an accurate pull-up jumper off the dribble. Alaina saw the floor well, threw crisp passes to open teammates, and worked hard on the defensive end. Alaina was impactful in every category for the Falcons at Northwood Team Camp.

Braelyn is an aggressive and versatile forward who gave Freeland a competitive edge at Northwood Team Camp. She cut hard to the basket, caught passes in stride, and finished many layups--including a strong and-one through contact. Braelyn drove with determination to earn trips to the free throw line and created steals on the defensive end. She secured rebounds with tenacity, made the hustle plays, and showed her outside range by drilling a corner three. Braelyn is going to be very impactful for the Falcons this winter.
