Kansas is in the midst of a few changes that I want to share with our followers. The roster of scouts has expanded and roles of a couple current scouts have changes. Rankings updates will be released for the 2025-2027 classes. There are also some newer faces that have landed on the radar.

Scouts

Prep Girls Hoops Kansas Lead Scout Jeremy Deckard has stepped down from the role. He took over the role when I stepped back from that position September 30, 2024. For many months he undertook the enormous lead scout responsibilities for not just PGH Kansas but also Kansas' Prep Dig and Prep Red Zone sites. Jeremy has a been a major catalyst for growth in the numbers of players on our collective radar as well in site subscribers. His professionalism and dedication to expanding the breadth of attention Kansas high school athletes receive has had a dramatic impact across the board. Managing lead scout roles for one site is a lot of work to do well. Three sites covering thousands of athletics - not just anybody has the knowledge or energy to do it well.

With Jeremy stepping down I have very recently stepped back into the lead role on an interim basis. Immediately I jumped into sorting through and incorporating new player profiles into our player database. The dozens of newly created accounts is a testament to Jeremy's vocal - in writing of course - encouragement for players to create one so he could get them into absorbed into our database. My next challenge is creating the next set of rankings updates. Expect them to start dropping very soon.

Also new is the expansion in the number of contributing scouts. Joining Jeremy, Adrian Maloney (also a contributor to Prep Hoops) and I are John Kennedy and former Holcomb and Lakin basketball and volleyball player Kalyn King. King, who finished her high school career as a Bronco this past spring, is joining Pratt Community College volleyball in the fall. Another new scout is in the works as well but it is too soon to release more information.

Rankings

My plan for the rankings is to roughly resume a quarterly schedule. The window from the April update is a little short but releasing an update very soon captures mid-summer play and sets the stage for the high school season. Heading into October, another update will be released and will include a short class of 2029 watch list. In the past I was very transparent about criteria for inclusion. Periodically I would release an article detailing considerations like this one from April 2021. My philosophy consistently supports an emphasis on ranking players on their potential to play college basketball and at what level, not necessarily on how good a player is right now. Please review my considerations article to get a peak into how I operate.

Players New to the Radar

The total number of players included in a senior class has never included more than the number found in the soon-to-be-released 2026 class rankings update. Heading into September nearly 260 prospects will be included. Among those new are the three below.

Hull is a perimeter shooter for an Owls team that reached the 2025 6A state tournament. Playing more than 31 minutes in the loss to Wichita Heights she buried 2/3 3-point shots and dished out 3 assists. Hull shoots it with good bounce and is an active defender.

Gallegos is a power forward that has attracted attention from college coaches in her short stint with Dynasty. She has a very solid frame, transitions well and is a quality presence inside on both ends. Gallegos scores it well around the basket and smartly clears rebounds. An easy all-league prospect.

The first team all-Central Plains League selection is just a basketball player. Stuhlsatz is a consistent threat score and grab numerous boards inside. Smart, strong and with good hops she is a two way player who also qualified for state track in 4 events. Stuhlsatz handles well and gets up and down the floor with speed.
