Top Prospects on the Wing at Hype Her Hoops: The Big Dance

Several elite West Coast prospects met up in Anaheim, CA last weekend. The gym was packed: 9 different courts and non-stop action for 4 straight days! Multiple powerhouse programs were in attendance. Featured below are standout performers at shooting guard and small forward. These ladies should be on your radar IMMEDIATELY!    Perhaps the top all-around athlete, Emaunii is as versatile as it gets. She played plenty of center for Elite Sports 17u, but can be a full-time player on the wing. Emaunii has physical gifts you simply cannot teach: great frame, high vertical, fast, long arms, and elite body control. She is a nightmare in transition and has receiver-like hands to snag rebounds and catch balls in traffic. Her tourney performance included several and1s and putbacks. Very hard to stop with a head of steam. She routinely used her face-up game to beat bigs off-the-dribble. Defensively, Emaunii has the ability to switch 1-5 and covers ground like no other. She is truly a DPOY type of talent. Elite rim protector with good anticipation as a ball hawk. She turns steals into fastbreak opportunities for her team. Emaunii showcased natural playmaking ability and good decision-making on the fastbreak.     Sanai was literally all over the floor on both ends. She can play point forward offensively and center defensively. Her ability to cover ground quickly is one-of-one. Sanai is a graceful finisher and one of the top slashers in the state. She glides in the air and is comfortable using either hand at the rim. Her fluidity and mobility at 6ft tall is hard to come by. Sanai had several remarkable scoop shots in transition due to elite body control and overall athleticism. She is comfortable handling the ball in the open court. There is a lot to like in this long, versatile forward.     Naomi's combination of length and scoring ability is very rare at the high school level. She has IN-THE-GYM range. Naomi routinely made shots from all over the floor. Contested mid-range jumpers, open 3s, deep 3s, tough finishes, you name it... Very tough cover because she shoots over smaller wings with ease and is too quick off-the-dribble for players of her stature. Naomi plays with a chip on her shoulder. The competitive fire is there and the defensive potential is off-the-charts. Her individual and help defense was game changing. Tier-1 shot blocker. Naomi Johnson is a can't miss prospect who should be receiving plenty of D1 offers, no doubt about it!     Savana's all-around game allows her to play inside and out. She can knock down open shots, facilitate for others, and post up inside. Savana can guard multiple positions and knows how to force turnovers. She doesn't need the ball much to make an impact offensively. Savana is constantly moving without the ball. Her quick release makes her even more dangerous on the perimeter. She has the length, shooting, and versatility you are looking for in a 2-guard prospect.     This sharpshooting lefty is a very underrated finisher at the rim. Taylor has a high basketball IQ and plays under control. Her reputation as a shooter opens the game up for everyone else. Defensively, she is a sneaky shot blocker and gets off the ground fairly quickly. Plenty of potential as a 3&D prospect.     Ellanani has solid size with a versatile skillset. She finishes well in traffic, has a nice middle game, and guards multiple positions. Ellanani rebounds and defends at a high level. Although she has range out to the 3pt line, Ellanani is always in attack mode and doesn't settle. Very crafty finisher inside. She is the type of player who does-it-all. Ellanani is a modern-day position-less player who is tailor made to fit on any team regardless of her role.     Maliyah is an up-and-coming wing with a beautiful stroke. You expect the ball to go in every single time it leaves her hands. She was a knockdown shooter from 3, in the corner specifically. Maliyah is only a rising 8th grader... The length and shooting ability bodes well for future success and longevity. She came off screens firing with no hesitation and broke the game open at times. Maliyah also hustles for loose balls and has a nose for the ball. Sneaky-good rebounder as well. Very few players in the class of 2030 have her ceiling.
