August used to be a slow month for club ball and hoops in general, but with several Colleges hosting elite camps and various showcases in the area, that has changed.

Aaralyn Scott, St. Andrew's, 2028 Guard

I got to see Aaralyn at one of Towson's Elite Camp sessions. She was very impressive. She's very compact with tremendous upper body strength and is deceptively quick. She creates space using her quickness and strong handle and has an impressive mid-range package of shots. Very good court vision and good instincts.

Makayla Coleman, The Potomac School, 2029, Center

Strong post player with good hands and a nice touch around the basket. When she got touches, she made them count. Good shot blocker and controlled the boards. She received a team MVP award for her efforts at the Towson camp.

[player_tooltip player_id='1230272' first='Khloe' last='Stewart'], Forest Park, 2028, Forward

Khloe showed up at the Family Reunion event and balled out. She didn't have her best shooting day, but she was relentless on the boards and played strong defense. She's big and athletic and can usually put up a double-double off her hustle alone.

Vanessa Flood, Spalding, 2028, Guard/Wing

Vanessa was another impressive rising sophomore at the Family Reunion event at Pikesville. With her combination of length, speed and athleticism she poses serious matchup problems for defenders. At six feet she handles the ball extremely well and is comfortable facilitating offense. She has improved her on ball defense so I expect her to be one of the top prospects in the area this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='839287' first='Laila' last='Morgan'], St. Timothy's, 2027, Guard

Laila had a really good month. She was really solid at the Loyola Elite camp and then she showed off at the Family Reunion, where she received an MVP award. She's been shooting the three well and has really picked up her defense. I'll be watching her in the fall to see if she can carry it over and build momentum for the regular season.
