Last year, as just an 8th grader, she earned All-Area honors while averaging over 14 points per game and shooting an impressive 40% from three and 80% from the free throw line. She is known for her tireless work ethic and high basketball IQ, and serves as the floor general and emotional leader of the team. She is a “coach on the floor,” and is respected by her teammates for her knowledge and competitiveness, and is the engine that makes the Lady Wildcats go.   Bristol Jade Cook (6'3/F|C/'29/Guntersville HS)   IG: bbyshaq25   X: @Bbyshaq25   Bristol is the defensive anchor in the paint for the Lady Wildcats, and makes her presence felt every night. Her length and timing allow her to block and alter numerous shots, while also cleaning the glass on both ends. Offensively, she has expanded her game, and has developed into a matchup problem who can step out and hit perimeter shots while still dominating inside. After a strong offseason, expect Bristol to emerge as one of the most recognized names in Alabama girls' basketball before the season is out. She was forced to play out of position at times last year, but she still proved to be one of the team's most reliable contributors. She combines strength around the basket with a soft shooting touch from mid-range and beyond the arc. With her size, skill, and growing basketball IQ, Avery is poised for a breakout season. She is a consistent shooter with an evolving physical style of play, and will be a dangerous offensive weapon this year. Her continued defensive growth will make her an even more complete player.   Mya Fennell (5'8/G|F/'26/Guntersville)   Mya is a senior leader, and has expanded her game with extra offseason work. She is known for her intangibles, as she contributes in ways that don't always show up on the stat sheet. She provides toughness, energy, and a veteran presence on and off the floor. Sophia Wood ('29/Guntersville)   Sophia is a JV standout who had an impressive summer. She brings energy, competitiveness, and depth to practices and games and will be a key role player.   Ella Beth Kirkland ('27/Guntersville)   Ella is an 11th grader moving up from JV this year as well. She brings  consistent effort and a hardworking mindset to the team. She understands where and how she helps the team and does a great job filling her role.   What To Expect From The Lady Wildcats This Season:   This year Coach Robinson is implementing a new half-court offensive system, designed to create better balance and efficiency while still emphasizing a fast-paced transition attack. Defensively, expect a foundation of man-to-man principles with multiple looks to disrupt opposing offenses.   What Will It Take for The Lady Wildcats To Win State?   For Guntersville, health and chemistry will be the keys. Competing in a loaded area with Scottsboro, Arab, and Fairview, programs that have produced the last several 5A champions or runners-up, the path will not be easy.
