is a disciplined, high-effort perimeter defender whose impact is built on positioning, anticipation, and consistency. She excels at the point of attack, using her size, lateral quickness, and length to stay in front of ball handlers and contest without overreaching. Smith defends with patience, forcing tough decisions and shrinking space rather than chasing plays.
Off the ball, her defensive awareness separates her. She reads actions early, rotates on time, and communicates through help coverage and switches. Her activity shows up on the glass (6.5 rebounds per game) and in disruption, averaging an impressive 4 steals per game. Smith competes through contact, finishes possessions, and brings a steady motor every night. At her best, she’s a defensive anchor in the backcourt whose presence elevates team defense and sets the tone.

Jae was as good a pure point guard as anyone I saw at She Got Game. From a former coach’s perspective you can have all of the talent in the world on your roster, but someone has got to get the ball to the scorers and Smith did just that. She was in constant communication with her coach about what was going on the floor and what her coach wanted her to do. Smith scored from the midrange, free throw line, and three point range herself. Smith was a positive, vocal leader for her team as well. Tulane got a great player and I expect Jae to play early and often there.

Her athleticism stands out, combining speed and agility that make her a constant threat in transition and a force on both ends of the floor.
Defensively, Smith’s physical tools and energy allow her to disrupt opponents and guard multiple positions. Offensively, her ability to impact the game in so many ways makes her a player that opposing teams must game plan around every night.

, is a highly versatile player who possesses impressive skills on both offense and defense. Smith’s ability to score from various positions on the floor is one of her most notable strengths. She shoots well from beyond the arc, hitting close to 40 percent of her three-point shots, which is amazing due to her young age.
In transition, Smith showcases her exceptional ball-handling skills, often taking control of the ball after a rebound and charging down the court to score a quick layup. On defense, Smith is equally impressive, with the ability to defend both interior-scoring bigs and perimeter-scoring guards and forwards. Her above-average lateral movement enables her to stay in front of her opponents and force turnovers on the perimeter.
Rebounding is another area where Smith shines, often securing offensive rebounds to give her team second-chance opportunities.

Ja’Kyah is only a freshman, but she plays a mature game. She is always engaged on the floor and can score and defend very well. She uses sneaky bursts of speed to get by defenders and showed a lot of strength finishing at the rim through contact. Also, a capable shooter from distance. Defensively, her ability to bait players into making passes within closing distance kept Bob Jones within striking distance throughout the first half. She finished with 17 points.

#5 Ja’Kyah rounds out the Top 5. She has started her first year of high school under head coach Jazmine Powers-Carr at Bob Jones with big expectations to make an immediate impact. Watching some of her films from travel season, I anticipate her recruitment to pick up quite a bit. She is a smooth and steady scoring threat on the perimeter and has a rhythm to her game. She does a good job creating space for herself consistently, with stepbacks and hesitations before she gets into her shot with the range extended well beyond the three-point line. When getting to the rim she makes quick last-minute reads and has a lot of touch on her layup package. She can get some tough ones to fall. She is a smarter passer and knows how to make help defenders fully commit before hitting teammates for, oftentimes, wide-open scoring opportunities.
