Here are five prospects out of the 2028 and 2029's, that evaluators and recruiters should note moving into this Winter season of high school ball. Each player demonstrated some nice things on the court on both sides of the ball and that stood out at anyone watching.

Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!

[player_tooltip player_id='1045022' first='Penny' last='Currans'] has a nice set of skills as a CG on the outside. There were a number of occasions at this event when Currans showed a powerful move, that ultimately lead her to an open attempt on the offensive end. She kept her head on a swivel and stuck to what she did best, which helped her show out as a solid prospect overall. Defensively, Currans also got after it, sticking to her defender like white on rice, Neve giving them an inch down the floor. This is someone that has a strong mental game to follow up all the physical stuff. She seems to have it pretty much together in whatever she wants to do and that's impressive for someone that is only going to be a Sophomore this Winter.

[player_tooltip player_id='920267' first='Kaitlyn' last='McAlexander'] puts in the work as a hard-nosed prospect on the hardwood. She is someone that is always looking to improve her game, while learning some things from those around her in one way or another as a guard. McAlexander doesn't play with her opponent. She tries to get right to business, being the most efficient hooper that she can be at all times give and we saw that first hand on Sunday in Bellevue. This Winter she will join back up with her Elkhorn South Storm team and that are looking to make some waves. They will have a young core but that's not a bad thing when thinking about all the possibilities that could come about.

[player_tooltip player_id='1226039' first='Alexis' last='Gutknecht'] is one of those players that just makes it happen. Doesn't matter the situation. When a play needs to be made, this is someone who can do it for you. She happens to do really well when she has another skilled individual around her, as it eases up the pressure on herself but in general - this is still a playmaker by definition. At this event, Gutknecht was doing a little bit of everything. Grabbing boards, dishing out assists, scoring the rock, and everything else you can imagine. At SW this Winter, this is someone who will produce each evening for her squad. She just needs to keep on working on her crafty in her free-time. If that happens, this is a name we will hear more and more about moving into the future.

Don't count out Mariam Samuelson of Omaha Duchesne. Samuelson, a 5'8 SG, showed up last Winter at Duchesne and demonstrated that she can help with the programs success for the next few years to come. Samuelson isn't the type to shock you with any crazy moves on the court. Instead, she takes when the defense gives her and she converts at a pretty respectable rate before of that. If they allow her to shoot an open look from deep, she can. If they want her to drive to the bucket for a finish through contact, she can. So it's really up to the defense in front of her to decide what she is going to do. We saw that a few times at this event and it turned into Samuelson making some smart plays overall.

Mesa Zellmer is going to bring some fire to the Hinton Basketball program this Winter while they come off their 2A State Title from a year ago. Zellmer has touch, a feel for situational basketball, and some good length to pair with her quick feet and fast acting hands. She understands to create contact first as a creator at the PG, leaving her defender in the dust or in a weird situation as she blows by. At this event, we saw Zellmer show some glimpses of what the future might hold for herself and those glimpses were impressive. Pair that along with the fact that she will be able to learn under a D2 PG this upcoming Winter in Sydney Doeschot for high school ball and you start to see what possibilities might come about in the near future.

Here are five prospects out of the 2028 and 2029's, that evaluators and recruiters should note moving into this Winter season of high school ball. Each player demonstrated some nice things on the court on both sides of the ball and that stood out at anyone watching.
