Last weekend, in Appleton, we had our third PGH Freshman Showcase. I enjoy seeing the new faces of high school basketball before the season, and plenty of players at the event will make their mark on the high school season this winter. Today, we're discussing all the players from Team Ten of the 5v5 portion of the event and highlighting what they brought to the floor. We'll keep this up until we wrap up all ten 5v5 teams that played at the Freshman Showcase.

[player_tooltip player_id='874408' first='Kaitlyn' last='Schuman']

The Brillion native is a do-it-all type of player who can fill multiple roles on both ends of the floor. She's a talented rebounding guard, pushes the ball up the floor, passes it well, and makes plays on the defensive end of the floor. Schuman is also a player who can make plays with the ball in her hands on the offensive end and score from all three levels. I thought she was effective whenever I watched her play in Appleton.

[player_tooltip player_id='1215006' first='Nala' last='Hampton']

Hampton shot the ball well from the perimeter and was a threat to knock down shots whenever she was on the floor. Her ability to space the floor also forced defenses to stay close to her or risk her getting shots off from the perimeter. She has a quick release and doesn't need much space to get her shots off. She will be an effective off-ball player who will open the floor for any team she plays on.

[player_tooltip player_id='992290' first='Laila' last='Rose']

Rose is an excellent perimeter shooter who can consistently knock down shots from beyond the arc. The lefty will be a valuable floor spacer whenever she's on the floor. I also thought she used her length to make plays on the defensive end of the floor. I also loved her willingness to dig in and rebound on both ends of the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id='1221996' first='Mae' last='Reese']

Reese takes care of the ball with it in her hands. I also thought she was a player who was willing to make plays with the balls in her hands. She is a skilled passer who can get her teammates the ball in positions to score. I also thought she did an excellent job of moving without the ball and keeping her defender occupied away from the ball. She is someone who found ways to be effective whenever she was on the floor, and she will find a role at the high school level at some point.
