The talent on display at the Prep Girls Hoops Minnesota Sophomore ID Camp at Maple Grove Middle School was nothing short of impressive. The Class of 2028 is clearly raising the bar and continuing to push Minnesota girls' basketball to new heights. Below, you'll find Part 1 of my evaluations of Team 9. Enjoy!

When her feet are set, Hemberger might be one of the best three-point shooters in the state. Her shot is pure – even her misses were either long or short, but always on line. She played with patience, moved the ball quickly, and consistently relocated to stay ready when her number was called. Opposing teams will soon learn they have to account for her at all times, or she'll make them pay. Defensively, she competed with the same intensity, showing she's not just a threat on one end of the floor.

Estochen has always been the type of player willing to dive on the floor for loose balls, hold a block-out just a second longer so a teammate can secure the rebound, or make the extra pass to keep the offense flowing. Add to that her new skill development, and you've got the makings of a complete player. Brooke has expanded her game with a fairly consistent outside shot and much-improved handles. She's still that gritty competitor who will do whatever it takes to help her team win, but now that she's added more tools to her bag – watch out!

Nelson (pictured above) is one of the most gifted players with the ball in her hands in the entire Class of 2028 – and with the talent in this group, that says a lot. Her ability to change directions and go between her legs is a sight to see, highlighted by a sequence where she put a defender on skates, dropped her to a knee, and calmly finished with a pull-up midrange jumper. She's relentless attacking the basket. Her length allows her to finish over the top of defenders, and she's slippery enough to squeeze through the tightest of spaces to get all the way to the rim. With Chaska's recent history of producing high-level guards, Nelson looks poised to be the next in line.

The lefty out of Woodbury showcased her versatility in multiple ways during the Sophomore ID Camp. Johnson flashed deep shooting range, knocking down shots from beyond the arc with picture-perfect form. When defenders closed out, she put the ball on the deck, weaving through traffic and finishing through contact with elite body control. On the defensive end, her 5'10” frame and length allowed her to quickly erase gaps, recovering to shut down advantages the offense thought they had.
