The Future Looks Bright for the Blue Devils

One of the blessings of being an educator is the opportunity to support your students during their extracurricular activities. After subbing at Lake Fenton Middle School, I decided to stop by the gym to give the middle school girls some Prep Girls Hoops coverage. I've had the joy of getting to know many of these kids in the classroom, and I've been looking forward to watching them play for their school team. Lake Fenton defeated Corunna in both games, and here are the girls who were the biggest difference makers.   <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://prepgirlshoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/4/2025/09/PXL_20250910_201457803-crop-3918x2573-1757677675.jpg?w=800" alt="" class="wp-image-1314548" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Lake Fenton vs. Corunna, L.F. M.S., Sep. 10th, 2025</figcaption></figure>    Jazmyn was efficient with her minutes during a decisive win for Lake Fenton. She paced the team with 19 points, dished out three assists, and added three steals on the defensive end. Jazmyn was effective at penetrating off the dribble and dishing the rock to open teammates. She threw an excellent lob entry pass into the post and an accurate kickout to the perimeter for an assist. Jazymyn converted layups at a high rate and handled the ball confidently with both hands. She showed her ability to knock down the open shot, draining a smooth elbow pull-up off a crossover, a triple, and multiple jumpers off the catch. Jazymyn put some English on her layup after making a smart backdoor cut and finished well off two feet. She was active on the defensive end, jumping into passing lanes to cause deflections, intercept passes, and took steals quickly the other way for two points.     Audri is a promising point guard in the Lake Fenton program with crafty ball-handling, confidence, and quickness that make her an exciting playmaker on both ends. Audri took a rebound coast to coast for a transition layup and pushed the ball up the court with pace using both hands. She blew by a defender to score a layup high off the glass and took a steal the other way for a bucket off two feet. Audri shot the ball confidently from beyond the arc, chased down offensive rebounds, and made accurate passes to open teammates. Her defensive pressure created many deflections and steals. Audri showed off her handles and demonstrated great sportsmanship. Instead of padding her stats and running up the score, Audri dribbled out the clock to close out the game. She turned in a complete performance with 10 points, six rebounds, and five steals.     Kensley stood out because of her outstanding defense, hustle, and unselfish passing. She had a knack for the ball, ripping it away clean while pressuring guards on the perimeter and jumping into passing lanes to create steals. Kensley worked hard to keep the ball in front of her, moving her feet quickly to cause a travel. She threw strong passes, knocked down an elbow jumper, and used a shifty double-crossover dribble to get to the rim. Kensley closed out hard to deflect a shot attempt and finished her backdoor cut with a layup. She led the team with seven steals, and her toughness made a big impact for Lake Fenton.     Destiny is a scrappy point guard whose impactful performance on both ends of the court caught my attention. She threw strong passes to teammates including an overhead dime over the defense for an assist to a cutter during a sideline play. Destiny anticipated a pass to grab a steal and pushed it with pace to score a breakaway layup. She jumped a pass for another swipe and accelerated with a burst to score a strong and-one. Desinty created space with her shifty inside-out dribbles and handled the ball confidently with both hands. She tied up the ball on defense and caused a five second call with her continuous pressure. Destiny communicated, created for others, and competed from start to finish. She led the team in every category with six points, four rebounds, four steals, and two assists.     Kendall has length, athleticism, and mobility that make her an effective interior player for the Blue Devils. She did a great job of maintaining good defensive positioning in the paint, moving her feet, and controlling her body to avoid foul calls. Kendall kept her arms high and protected the rim, swatting five shots away. She worked hard to seal defenders on the blocks to give teammates an open target and moved to open space. Kendall knocked down a free throw and kept her arms active on defense to create deflections and steals.     Katelyn contributed in every category for Lake Fenton and helped them earn a decisive win. She shoots the ball with a smooth follow-through, high arc, and balanced feet. Katelyn drilled a three-pointer up top and in the corner. She swished a deep corner jumper and banked in an elbow jumper off the dribble. Katelyn threw strong skip passes, a rocket pass into the post, and anticipated the defense's rotations. Katelyn made the hustle plays, secured multiple offensive rebounds, made extra passes for assists, and was an active defender. She has a good IQ, plays hard, and has high energy. Katelyn poured in 10 points and dished out four assists.     Makenna went full beast mode for Lake Fenton and ended the game with a double-double. She dove to secure loose balls on the floor and did a great job of giving teammates an open target by posting up and moving to open space around the basket. Makenna stole the ball and dribbled it all the way to the basket with her left hand. She was active on defense, causing several deflections. Makenna secured rebounds on both ends, scored many layups, and swished an elbow jumper. She poured in 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.     Adilynn is a point guard who sees the floor, works hard on the defensive end, facilitates the offense, and creates with her dribble. She had excellent court vision and distributed accurate passes into the post. Adilynn weaved in between defenders using quick crossover dribbles and handled the ball effectively with both hands. She used wide pushout dribbles to create a driving lane and drove by to cause a foul. Adilynn split defenders with a quick crossover dribble and dropped in a pair of floaters from the free throw line. One of her highlight plays happened when she swiped the ball away, attacked with a burst, changed lanes with a crossover, and finished with a strong and-one layup. Adilynn created many steals and took one coast-to-coast for two points. She turned in a complete performance for Lake Fenton with 9 points, four rebounds, and four steals.
