I distinctly remember the first time I watched [player_tooltip player_id='377583' first='Mya' last='Wilson'] play as a 6th grader. My immediate response was, ‘Wow!' It was obvious at the time that she was probably the odds-on favorite to be the top-ranked prospect in Minnesota's Class of 2027, even if that wouldn't become official for another two years. Fast forward to today and our prediction for Wilson's future success appears to be on track. With nearly 30 scholarship offers, the Hill-Murray guard continues to grow her game and garner new suitors. Today, as we launch our Prep Girls Hoops fall rankings update for juniors, Wilson remains the premier 2027 prospect in the state.

Meanwhile, eight players in the top 50 have improved their stock while two more have entered the top 50 for the first time. Here's a rundown on who has been making moves in the Top 50.

RISING IN THE TOP 10

The first four spots in the 2027 rankings remain the same: #1 [player_tooltip player_id='377583' first='Mya' last='Wilson'] (Hill-Murray), #2 [player_tooltip player_id='498661' first='Pressley' last='Watkins'] (Benilde-St. Margaret's), #3 [player_tooltip player_id='578467' first='Amisha' last='Ramlall'] (Rosemount, University of Minnesota commit) and #4 [player_tooltip player_id='529357' first='Emma' last='Millerbernd'] (Providence Academy). Two players have moved up in the Top 10:

[player_tooltip player_id='558627' first='Erma' last='Walker'] of Hopkins rises one position in the rankings to #5. After an outstanding conclusion to the high school season, Erma (pictured above) moved on to the [program_tooltip program_id='712722' first='North' last='Tartan'] EYBL squad where she proved herself against the deepest field of college-bound talent in the country. Walker is the best true post player in the class.

[player_tooltip player_id='498658' first='Morgan' last='Mathiowetz'] of Sleepy Eye St. Mary's rises one place to #9. She, too, had an excellent run to the state tournament in March where she showed off her big box of tools in Minneapolis on the biggest stage of the high school season. Morgan transitioned to the [program_tooltip program_id='712687' first='Minnesota' last='Fury'] UAA squad in the spring where she showed what she could do on the highly regarded UAA Circuit.

CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

Changes to a player's Prep Girls Hoops prospect ranking are propelled by a number of factors. For juniors it is usually driven by continuous improvement. Some players make an early impact to earn their way into the rankings. Some are late bloomers who rise up the ladder through physical growth. Most who make moves in the Top 50 do so because they put in the work to get better. An enhanced skillset. Improved situational understanding. Excelling against tougher competition. Growing confidence and maturity. Often it is all of the above. These half dozen stock risers are among those who continue to get better.

#13 [player_tooltip player_id='659130' first='Jaliyah' last='Diggs'] – The Hopkins guard earned our Prep Girls Hoops high school Breakout Player of the Year award after leading the Royals to the Class 4A state championships. Her teammate [player_tooltip player_id='558627' first='Erma' last='Walker'] said Jaliyah was “our secret weapon.” Well Diggs is no secret now. After a strong summer with the [program_tooltip program_id='712665' first='Metro' last='Stars'] the crafty point guard rises two more places to #13.

#27 [player_tooltip player_id='866100' first='Addie' last='Iversen'] – We think the 6-footer from Delano is one of the most “sneaky special” prospects in the Class of 2027. She has length, athleticism and skill and every time we watch her Addie seems to have improved. The [program_tooltip program_id='714566' first='Minnesota' last='Stars'] guard entered the top 50 in 2024, rose to #35 last fall and into the top 30 in February. Now Iversen is at #27.

#28 [player_tooltip player_id='644101' first='Samira' last='Taylor'] – The crafty guard from DeLaSalle is one of the most interesting prospects among Minnesota juniors. Clearly talented, already impactful, Taylor has a ton of room to grow, too. At the PGH Expo scout Ally McGinnis said this about the [program_tooltip program_id='712700' first='Minnesota' last='Suns'] guard: “With her athleticism on full display, Samira put on a clinic on the offensive end of the floor.” She rises four positions to #28.

#32 [player_tooltip player_id='644107' first='Inarah' last='Nesbitt'] – The versatile prospect from Hopkins is ready for a breakout campaign this winter. Inarah is one of the best defenders in the 2027 class, a team-first player who relishes the opportunity to guard top opponents with an impressive combination of athleticism, intelligence and commitment. The two-way Minnesota Queens guard moves up five positions to #32.

#33 [player_tooltip player_id='1175103' first='Morgan' last='Rysdam'] – From obscurity to excellence, the Braham guard came into view last winter and turned heads for [program_tooltip program_id='756457' first='Opportunity' last='Basketball'] all summer, earning the Prep Girls Hoops AAU Newcomer of the Year award. An opposing coach said Rysdam is “the kid you feel every second she is in the game. Couldn't have been more impressed with her.” Morgan moves up two more spots.

#38 [player_tooltip player_id='734360' first='Gigi' last='Coleman'] – The versatile guard from Minnehaha Academy (pictured above), who will play AAU for the [program_tooltip program_id='714566' first='Minnesota' last='Stars'] next spring, continues to grow her game on both sides of the ball, rising four more positions into the Top 40. PGH scout Ally McGinnis said Gigi was “an oppressive force on the defensive end” and her shooting is excellent.

WELCOME TO THE TOP 50

With this updated ranking of the Class of 2027, there are two players who have entered the Top 50 for the first time.

#45 [player_tooltip player_id='764180' first='Anna' last='Smelser'] – The energetic junior from Robbinsdale Armstrong (pictured above) is one of the true success stories of 2025. She was good last year; she's been great this year. Anna has committed to skill enhancement and has all of the intangibles needed to succeed at the next level with an unrivaled compete factor. Now receiving D2 offers, the [program_tooltip program_id='718403' first='Minnesota' last='Freeze'] guard moves up 17 places to #45.

#48 [player_tooltip player_id='498657' first='Aubrey' last='Steffl'] – The crafty lguard from Class A Cedar Mountain continues to defy the odds and prove that she can do a lot more than hold her own against quality opponents from across the region. This summer with the [program_tooltip program_id='712699' first='Minnesota' last='Rise'] she took over from [player_tooltip player_id='498658' first='Morgan' last='Mathiowetz'] as the primary point guard, showcasing her superior skills and athleticism in a bigger way. She moves up four spots to #48.

HOW THE RANKINGS WORK

As we always like to remind our readers, Prep Girls Hoops prospect rankings are based on a player's potential for college basketball, NOT their current level of play in high school. Our goal is to project where players fit in the college basketball landscape and help college coaches locate Minnesota prospects who will fit well at their level of competition. For more information on the ranking process, please go to the rankings tab above and select the How We Rank option.
