Players Gather at Conboy Gym as Week 4 of Fall Ball Heats Up

This week, I had the opportunity to meet with a great group of athletes who were training with well-known trainers Matthew Conboy and Dion Rhodes at Conboy Gym in Vancouver, WA.   Players traveled from Canada, Idaho, and Oregon to gather and compete with some of the best in the Northwest.   I also scouted and evaluated Hoopsources week 4 of fall ball games at the Hoop in Beaverton on Saturday. There were some close battles as varsity teams competed in some thrilling matchups. Now, let's recap some players who excelled this week.    [player_tooltip player_id='1249193' first='Kadee' last='Spike'] is a rising freshman out of Union High School and also plays for the [program_tooltip program_id='1035055' first='Northwest' last='Select'] AAU team. I originally spotted Kadee during her participation with Gems in the Gym, a local clinic held in Portland recently. She stood out right away by her ability to shoot the ball well and her aggressive play on offense. She can drive to the hoop and is a great passer. She has a way of reading the floor well. This week I got to scout and watch her train with Matt Conboy at his facility in Vancouver, WA. She was working with some of her current teammates from Union High School. She was able to keep up with some of the best upper classmates, Brooklyn Haywood and [player_tooltip player_id='1051361' first='Myla' last='Larry']. When asking Kadee what she likes best about training with Conboy and the other athletes? She said, “I like the way he pushes us to get better everyday and ensures we're giving our max effort.”   She stated, “I like playing with the players here, because we all have the same like-minded goals and just compete and battle with each other every day.”   This upcoming season, it will be exciting to watch Kadee develop her game with one of the best teams out of Washington.     [player_tooltip player_id='751208' first='Dilyn' last='Boeck'] is a standout Junior out of W.F. West. She is a combo guard and is skilled at shooting and reading the floor well. She's a patient player and is great at passing and getting her teammates open looks to score. She's a team player and a leader on the floor.   This week Dilyn stood out for her aggressive scoring ability and eagerness to get better. She's willing to put in the work and has a strong work ethic. She has a ton of potential and is very coachable. Be on the lookout for her this upcoming season.     Brecken Mire is a Junior out of Sandpoint High School in Idaho. She traveled to the Conboy gym to train with some of the best in the Northwest. There is not a lot of opportunity to be recruited where she is located, so she is going the extra mile to gain exposure. She's clearly dedicated to getting better at her craft.   Brecken is a very talented combo guard and can shoot the ball really well. She has a 6 foot wingspan and can block shots and rebound the ball well. She's a tremendous leader on and off the court. Her basketball IQ is extremely knowledgeable and impressive. Any college would be lucky to recruit and sign her. Tune into her this upcoming season. She's on the rise!     [player_tooltip player_id='1321214' first='Piper' last='Hildreth'] is a freshman at Newberg High School and plays for NW Reign AAU team. She's a combo guard with tenacious defense. This last week while training at the Conboy gym in Vancouver, WA., Piper blocked a ton of shots during scrimmage play. She took her skills onto live play in Saturdays games for NW Reign. She had some key knockdown three-pointers and some aggressive fast breaks in transition.   Piper is very fast and strong. She sees the floor well and has a great IQ out on the court. She's working hard in this off-season to get more attention during the season from scouts and recruiters. She has her goals set on playing in college, and I know without a doubt she will land in a great program. Keep up the impressive work, Piper!       [player_tooltip player_id='832599' first='Samara' last='Massey'] is a strong power forward from Benson High School. She's entering her senior season and standing out with her offensive strengths and defensive presence on the court.   This past weekend, Samara stood out for her aggressive performance down the stretch in a battle between Benson and Camas. She was attacking the hoop and getting to the rim to help her team. Her defense was strong with getting into help-side and communicating to her teammates. It was her determination and confidence that helped them to victory. Samara should finish out her high school career with some great looks at the next level. Keep up the great work!     [player_tooltip player_id='832621' first='Reese' last='Jordan'] is a talented Senior at West Linn High School. She plays for NW Select AAU team. This past weekend, Reese stood out immediately for her aggressive offense in shooting and passing. She's a very consistent player with great height for a guard. She grabbed the attention of other scouts and videographers in the gym right away.   She played in a heated battle against Benson, and it was a dog fight from the jump. This game was close all the way to the final quarter. Reese's consistent shooting is what helped increase the lead. One particular moment I was filming the game, Reese threw a no-look pass that left me saying, “Oh my!” If I had to describe her to other scouts, I'd say she's like a quiet storm. She plays with grace, yet is a dangerous threat to her opponents. This will be an exciting year for her and her teammates as they hold an undefeated streak this fall. There's no doubt they'll be in the running for state.
