The high school hoops season is fastly approaching. One class in TN that people should take notice of before the season begins in the Division II-A. Here are a few talented players from the Division II-A to keep an eye on ahead of the upcoming season.

Point guard out of Grace Christian Academy, and recent commit to the UAB basketball program, [player_tooltip player_id='513232' first='Nya' last='Burns'] should put together a stellar senior season of high school basketball.

Burns throughout her high school career has demonstrated her elite guard play. Two facets that stands out and makes her a tough guard for any opposing defender is her stop-and-go speed and high-level dribbling skills. The combination of the two keeps defenders off balance and always guessing. She pairs that with the ability to knock down jumpers from the mid-range, and has the capabilty to hit fadeways from that area of the floor. Burns is also a great shooter from the perimeter and a high-level passer.

On defense, her plus speed makes her a great on-ball defender.

[player_tooltip player_id='583370' first='Skylar' last='Walden'] was a standout player for The King's Academy in her sophomore season. The same thing should ring true in her upcoming junior season.

Walden's game features a lethal three-point shot. She hits it consistently and can hit it in all sorts or ways;on the run on a fastbreak, a simple catch and shoot, and off the dribble. In a game against The Webb School last year she had four threes.

Another area that stands out in her versatility is on defense. She has great side-to-side speed that allows her to stay in front of defenders. She also has enough athletic ability to jump and contest shots of bigs

[player_tooltip player_id='821873' first='Kinsley' last='Owen'] is for sure a name to remember in all of TN girls' basketball. Even though she is ranked high at #15 in her class, she has the skill and ability to keep climbing the rankings.

Last season for Silverdale Baptist Academy, she put forth another impressive year of hoops. Her speed and IQ are two of the strongest areas of her game. Owen has a knack for getting steals, and a lot of the time these lead directly to fast breaks. Against Boyd Buchanan High School last year, she had eight fast-break scores. Five of these came from her own steals.

Owen also just does a little bit of everything else and she is good at all of it. She is a high-level playmaker, perimeter shooter, and rebounder at the guard position. In the same game agaisnt Boyd Buchannan she displayed her all-around with a stat line of 28 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists.

[player_tooltip player_id='1133751' first='Anniston' last='Allgood'] from Nashville Christian High School proved last season that she is an elite defender.

Allgood is great at reading passing lanes. This, combined with her height of 5'10", makes her a huge steal threat. This was shown in a game last year against Friendship Christian. In the game she had six steals.

On offense, Allgood can score well in the post and can finish through traffic with ease. She is also a great offensive rebounder and rebounder in general. Her post scoring and rebounding abilities were showed in a game against Harpeth High School last season. In the contest she had 20 points and 14 rebounds.

[player_tooltip player_id='821641' first='Haylen' last='Ayers'] is ranked as the number one player of the 2027 class of TN for a reason.

Ayers, at 6'1", can play the role of a guard in taking the ball up the court and creating off the dribble. She can use her shiftiness to get past defenders, but does not shy away from using her height as an advantage in powering past opposing players. She has a high-arcing three point shot that is borderline unguardable in the high school hoop scene. Ayers also has a bag of tricks in post scoring and is usually the best rebounder on the court every time she plays .

Her versatility on the offensive side flows over to defense as she can almost always guard every player on the opposing team, positions one through five. It will certainly be fun to see what Ayers can accomplish in her third year of high school basketball.
