Deeper Dive: Class 2A Region 1 Player Evaluations

Starting player evaluations of the Class 2A in TN, there is a talented pool of players in Region 1. Here are a few of the many high-skilled players to take note of as the 2025-2026 girls' basketball season is now in motion.    Maliyah Grasoer from Gatlinburg-Pittman High School is an intriguing player to watch.   Last year, Glasper displayed elite-level dribble moves. With these, in her repertoire, she can constantly change the pace of the game. This keeps opposing players off balance and allows Glasper to excel with her elite-level paint scoring and playmaking ability. This play from Glasper earned her many Division 1 offers, where she eventually committed to attend Tennessee Tech to play basketball.   It will be exciting to see how Glasper can improve her already dynamic game in the 20225-2026 season.     [player_tooltip player_id='1234349' first='Izzy' last='Thompson'] for Johnson Co. brings a lot to the table with her game.   Thompson, last year, proved to be a hooper. At the SG/SF position, she brings solid wing defense and a great three-point shot. She showed off her shot from the perimeter in a game against Happy Valley High School last season, making three threes.   Her potential on defense was seen throughout the season, especially in a game against Providence Academy High School. In the game, she had four steals. Thompson at the wing position also has an above-average rebounding ability.     At the PG position, Justis brings a great three-point shot and perimeter defense to the table.   At 5'5", Justis is an extremely quick player. She has great hand-eye coordination, which, paired with her speed, makes her a constant steal threat. Last year at West Greene High School, she had many games with two or more steals.   On Offense, Justis, as mentioned, has a great three-point shot. With this shot, she is more than comfortable shooting off the dribble or in catch-and-shoot actions. Distance does not affect her shot. If she is given space five feet off the line, she is still accurate when she lets a shot fly from deep.     [player_tooltip player_id='807465' first='Kiley' last='Lynn Norwood'] should be able to make a profound impact on Pigeon Forge High School in just her sophomore season.   At 5'9" last year, she displayed a versatile skill set, especially on the defensive end. She has quick feet, and with her size, she can guard posts just as well as she can guard wings. Her defensive prowess was seen in a game against Onedia High School last year, where she had six steals and two blocks.   On offense, Norwood can handle the ball well. When scoring, she can do so at all three levels. She is definitely a player for people to keep track of; her ceiling as a player is extremely high.     [player_tooltip player_id='1122549' first='Jacy' last='Ferguson'], out of Claiborne High School, has great athleticism and a good perimeter shot.   Ferguson is a high-level volleyball player. Some of that athleticism she showcases in that sport translates to her game in hoops. She is a great rebounder and a solid overall defender. In a game against Washburn High School last season, she recorded four steals.   On offense, Ferguson makes her impact mainly behind the arc. She has good mechanics on her jumper and is mainly just a catch-and-shoot threat. Ferguson is also a good playmaker at the guard position.
