The first week of the high school season is in the books, and I've posted the first week of polls in all five divisions across Wisconsin. Today, we'll highlight a few of the standouts of the opening week of the 2025-26 season and talk about what they bring to the floor. There are plenty of players who have had excellent performances this past week, but we'll look at four players in particular.

The Lomira guard is a physical player who is willing to dig in and rebound on the defensive end of the court. Christian also continued to excel as the focal point of the Lions' offense and scored 32 points in a win against Kewaskum in Lomira. Her ability to score from all three levels of the court makes her a challenging player to contain offensively when she's playing at her best. Christian had a solid first season, summer and is continuing to excel at the high school level in her sophomore campaign.

Mya Dernbach

The Almond-Bancroft wing is a versatile player who can handle the ball and create mismatches by setting screens for her teammates. She has a solid mid-range game and is comfortable creating space with a dribble or two to open up her jumper. Dernbach also has the length to make plays defensively and help her team close out possessions by rebounding on the defensive end.

[player_tooltip player_id='533059' first='Kelly' last='Boinski']

The Catholic Memorial guard is coming into her senior season as the most confident version of herself that we've seen. Her senior year will be the first where Boinski is the focal point of what teh Crusaders do offensively and has the physicality to get downhill and put pressure on opposing defenses. However, she is a confident shooter who knocked down three three-pointers on the road against Pius XI to help a younger Crusaders group from previous seasons compete with the Lady Popes.

[player_tooltip player_id='874552' first='Ady' last='Christian']

A Mayville native, Christian had a solid first week of high school basketball to open her career. She was a disruptive presence defensively and earned a handful of live-ball turnovers against Ripon. The young guard was also impressive with the ball in her hands, creating looks for herself and her teammates. Christian is also a threat to space the floor and knock down shots from the three-point line if defenses don't stay attached to her away from the ball. It'll be interesting to see her play out her first high school season.
