Week 1 – Juniors Already Making A Difference

After a week of games, we've identified several players who may not have been on everyone's radar yet, but are already making a strong case to earn attention as the season progresses. Here are a few who stood out and are poised to draw more eyes going forward.

In two games, Kate has already logged 32 points — an impressive start and a strong complement to teammate [player_tooltip player_id='1119385' first='Ellie' last='Stephens'], who has 38. Together, they form a potent one-two punch for North Summit, with Kate showing she can score in volume, finish in traffic, and take pressure off Ellie. This emerging tandem will be tough to scout against and could quickly become one of the most dangerous duos in their classification.

If there were any questions about how Jalise would transition into Utah basketball, she answered them convincingly. She dropped 22 points against a tough Pleasant Grove squad, showing not just skill, but poise under pressure. Her energy, hustle, and confidence on the floor set the tone — and if this debut is any indication, she'll be one of the names driving the conversation for the rest of the season.

Makayla has become exactly what Morgan needed — a reliable second option who can take over when defenses overcommit. With teams keying heavily on [player_tooltip player_id='889503' first='Zoe' last='Rockenfield'], Makayla capitalized and averaged 20 points per game this week, keeping her team on pace offensively and injecting energy into every possession. Her ability to step into that complementary scoring role gives Morgan a balanced attack and makes this team harder to scout going forward.

Taylor has quickly become one of Highland's most unexpected impact players this season. She has made a statement in their past two wins, putting up 42 points, pulling down 13 rebounds in those two games, and recording an impressive 4 blocks in a single game. She's producing at a high level on both ends of the floor and giving Highland a reliable presence in the paint. Once Highland faces stronger competition, we'll get a true sense of just how high her game can rise under pressure.

Keiarra returns as the centerpiece for Whitehorse, coming off a state title run where she played a pivotal role in their success. She's already proving she's still the heartbeat of the program, opening the year with a 22-point performance and showing the same leadership, scoring ability, and composure that carried them last season. As a returning star, she'll once again be the focal point of their offense and the tone-setter on both ends of the floor.
