Last Friday, I was at Harding Academy to watch them against Arlington. I thought it would be a good matchup for me to see. I was right because the game went into overtime.

Harding Academy was undefeated going into to the game and their junior guard [player_tooltip player_id='822248' first='Bella' last='Rose Austin'] was up for both of the local media's player of the week awards. I also wanted to do a check in on Arlington's freshman [player_tooltip player_id='1311526' first='Cortney' last='Bills'] and junior guard [player_tooltip player_id='821997' first='Zaria' last='Moss'].

Scoring Guard. Bella was up for Daily Memphian Player of the Week after a 22 points, 17 rebounds, 4 assists an 5 steals game, during the timeframe of Nov. 17-29. She was also up for the Commercial Appeal Player of the Week for the timeframe of November 17-22. My unofficial stats for Bella against Arlington was 13 points and 7 rebounds. I haven't seen Bella play since her freshman year. She was a young high energy player at that time. Now she is one of the main scorers. In this game, she attacked to the basket a lot. She can get to the rim from either side of the floor. Her first bucket of the game was actually a wing 3. She also has a pull up shot. After 6 games, she is leading Harding in scoring with 14.2 points and 10.2 rebounds.

Quick Anticipator. Brynne is up for the Daily Memphian and Commercial Appeal's Player of the Week this week after a 20 points, four rebounds, five assists and 4 steal game. I can't really tell you too much about Brynne's offensive game because she was face guarded the entire night by Arlington. However, that did not stop her. When she wasn't face guarded, she ran the lanes and got some easy buckets. She contributed defensively and offensively by getting 9 steals against Arlington. You could not pass the ball her way without her getting a tip or the steal. Her 8 points and 9 steals is another reason why she is up for Player of the Week. After 6 games, she is second in scoring with 13.8 points and first in steals with 7.7 per game.

Athletic Scoring Guard. It's been a couple of summers since I last saw Zaria play. I remember her as a fast attacking guard. My unofficial stats for her against Harding Academy was 15 points. She does a lot for Arlington. She is the primary ball handler. She is a defender and had the assignment of guarding [player_tooltip player_id='822248' first='Bella' last='Rose Austin']. She is a leaper and did an amazing job getting back on transition defense and blocked a lay up. She is very good at using the euro step to get through traffic at the basket to score. She has a mid range jumper and can also post up players on the block.

I really wanted to get to the White Station - Houston game last week but my schedule didn't allow it to happen. Fortunately, I was able to get access to the video of the game.

Scoring Guard. Lilly is really starting to come into her own offensively, especially as a 3 point shooter. By my unofficial stats, she knocked down 2 threes in the MLK semifinal against MBA. She hit 2 quick threes in the MLK Championship game to help give White Station an early lead. Then she had 4 threes against Houston for a total of 21 points (again my unofficial stats). After 6 games, she is second in scoring with 10.8 points per game for White Station. Lily is up for the Commercial Appeal Player of the Week this week.

Defending Guard. Jaden had a break out game offensively to me in the MLK semifinal against MBA. She is a high energy guard that loves to attack the basket. What stood out to me from the game against Houston was her defensive abilities. She can defend full court. She is in a good stance with arms out and very locked in on her assignment. After 6 games, she is averaging 8 points and 5.7 rebounds per game.
