The George-Little Rock Mustangs moved to 4-0 on Monday night after they win against Adrian High School, 51-44. The Mustangs were led by their Senior Center - [player_tooltip player_id='595156' first='Lindsey' last='Haken'], who put up an eye-opening stat line throughout the evening. Haken ended with a game high 25 points (10-17), 18 rebounds, 6 assists, 4 steals, & 3 blocks. With the combination of height, skill, and the competition that Haken will compete against this Winter it's not crazy to think that should could put together some other contests with a stat line just like this one. She has been a top producer for years now with her Mustangs teams, usually averaging some impressive numbers in her efforts. This game was simple. Haken clearly dominated and her team got the seven point W. Two things you can't be mad about from a coaching perspective.

In most situations you would consider [player_tooltip player_id='1106028' first='Sylvia' last='Sullivan'] an undersized Forward at 5'9 but within her conference she is actually one of the taller ones at play that position. Sullivan did her thing on Monday, scoring 22 points (9/14) from the field while playing some noteworthy defense. Sullivan has been the leader for this crew to begin this Winter underneath the bucket but she is also starting to show that she can step-away from the bucket if she needs to help create spacing on the floor for the others around her to navigate. Not to mention, she is a steady rebounding force, that knows to box out her matchup before going for the boards on both ends. This is the first time we have heard about Sullivan this Winter but it won't be the last if she continues to produce like she did on Monday evening for the Bulldogs.

PCM High School has a stud in 2028 - [player_tooltip player_id='1325841' first='Libby' last='Winters']. Winters, a 6'0 Center for the Mustangs, is someone that opposing teams have to plan for in their scouting report because of her combination of size and touch under the basket. Last season and to start this one Winters has demonstrated that she navigates the paint really well. She can be a scoring threat with her back to the bucket within her team's offense, she can score off of rebounds and missed shot attempts, she can defend the paint like her life depends on it, and she happens to lead the others around her with not just her words but with her actions. She goes out there, leaves it all on the hardwood and that resinates with her teammates. On Monday night Winter had herself an evening. She finished things with 20 points (10/14) and 13 rebounds for a 20/10 double-double in a 3 point victory over North Mahaska. This W helped move the Mustangs to 4-1 to kick off this Winter. Now they just need to keep on building momentum as we move into 2026.

Another hooper that had a 20/10 double-double in the points-rebounds category on Monday night was 5'11 Center/Power Forward - [player_tooltip player_id='1182033' first='Macey' last='Kuntz'] of Wapello High School. Wapello made slight work of their competition on Monday and a big reason for that was the dominance in the lane by Kuntz. She didn't play much of the second half and she still finished with 25 points (12/22) and 14 rebounds. This outing put Kuntz's worth to her team in perspective for a lot of outsiders. When she was in the middle doing her thing, they thrived. When she was taken off the floor, we can't say the same so it'll be interesting how teams adapt to that as we move forward in the season. As for now they sit at .500 with a 2-2 record but that will change a few more times prior to X-mas break so we will just have to wait and see how it all plays out.

Creston moved to 3-1 on Monday evening with their 33 point victory over Murray High School (2-2) with the Panthers' star CG being [player_tooltip player_id='1363169' first='Kadley' last='Bailey'] once again. From what we have noticed so far this Winter, Bailey puts up some numbers when she plays. She might not be the most skilled in the state but she holds her own and is much better than the competition she is playing most of the time within her team's conference. The best part about this 25 point outing is that Bailey did it efficiently on 12/14 shots. You can't ask for much better shooting than that from a coaching perspective so I'm sure after the game, the words of encouragement from her coaching staff was to keep letting it fly! There is things to like from Bailey's game from a recruitment standpoint. When you consider she is only starting her Sophomore season, you start to see the promise.
