As we approach the new year, most Indiana girls' basketball teams are at about the halfway point in terms of the number of games they've played. With that said, I wanted to take a moment to look back at the action from November & December, and to point out some standout individuals from around the state. Below is a look at players who are dishing out gifts to teammates in the way of assists. I am using what has been provided through MaxPreps, so if your coaches don't enter information for you to be considered, that is why you are omitted here.

As a Freshman, Jaliyah is new to the high school scene in Evansville, but she seems to be making highlight plays on a nightly basis. The athletic combo guard is not only proving that she can score it (16.7 ppg) and play defense (6.3 rpg, 7.9 spg), but she is also leading her team in assists, averaging 7.7 dishes per game thus far. If she can continue on this pace, she should be setting a number of Harrison records throughout her career. Look for Jaliyah to appear on our updated 2029 watch list in early January.

I've been a big fan of Marley since she arrived in high school, and now in her Junior year, she just continues to be a steady and productive playmaker. She has consistently improved most of her statistical per game averages each season, but she has really done a nice job this year of finding open teammates in positions to score, averaging 6.6 assists per game. Marley does have some flash to her game at times, but I've learned that she rarely attempts a play she can't make, nor does she do things unnecessarily. She should draw a widespread array of college interest throughout the Spring grassroots season.

Lillie has sat atop the Class of 2027 rankings in Indiana since we initially posted them a couple of years ago. She brings athleticism, length, the ability to score the ball at all three levels, plus she's a versatile and effective defender. However, she has always been a willing passer, and she is currently handing out assists at a career-high level this Winter, averaging 6.3 per game. That playmaking ability has a number of mid to high Division I schools interested in her services, because she can come in and fill a variety of roles immediately at the next level.

Each of Carly's first three seasons, she has been among the state's leaders in assists per game. She has a real knack for the lead guard position, and even though the roster is significantly different than the group who made it to the Class 1A Final Four two seasons ago, she is still handing out assists at a rate of 5.5 per game, helping the Bulldogs to a 12-3 record to begin this season. Carly is as tough as they come, she plays with a tremendous motor, and she possesses an excellent mind for the game.

While Kylah is beginning to make a lot more noise in terms of her recruiting among college coaches, she is still somewhat of an unknown by the casual fan throughout the state. Additionally, while "K.P." has posted extraordinary scoring and rebounding numbers during her first 2 1/2 seasons at Morton, she has also proven to be both a willing and a capable passer. This year, she has doubled her assist output (from 2.5 apg to 5.2 apg) from her Sophomore year. She's also averaging career highs in points per game, rebounds per game, and steals per game. At her size, and with her strength, she truly is a matchup nightmare for opposing coaches/teams.
