When I think about a basketball player, two words that come to mind are impact and production. When evaluating talent, I always look at the kind of impact a kid has on the game when they are on the floor. Then, just like many of you, I consider their production and how they use the minutes they have on the floor. There are all sorts of ways things can be measured: points, rebounds, +/-, steals, etc. Numbers don't lie. Each coach, scout, and talent evaluator has their own specific ideas about what matters more. However, when it comes to me personally, I consider all because I want a versatile player who can do it all.

Over the first quarter of the season, I have had the opportunity to see many young ladies who are versatile and truly impact the game. Their production is up in multiple categories, which in turn leads to wins for their ball club. Early on, it's sometimes hard to see the actual impact a kid is having on the schedule or early-season matchups. Many coaches try to schedule more formidable opponents to prepare their teams for district play. Some take the cupcake approach and stack wins to get numbers going. Both are valuable, but things truly won't be ironed out until the end of the season.

Without further ado, I want to touch on a few kids from the Mid-State area who have been producing high numbers and making an impact in a multitude of ways early in this season.

Volume scorer who can put the ball in the hole. She has had multiple double-digit outings, including a 40-point game. With her presence on the floor, she attracts double teams and kids who face-guard, but she always seems to find a way to break away and put the ball in the net. She brings confidence to her club, and they feed off her energy. Solid kid who is going to have a breakthrough year as she knocks down HCHS records along the way.

Steady as they come, puts together a solid body of work, and it was very evident the value she brings to her Nolensville club. She had 12 points and seven boards, helping her team beat Rockvale 64-62 Friday night. Sara has always been the girl who cleans up. She does the tough stuff, putting her squad over herself. She may not get the pub, but her contributions are what make this team tick. Keep an eye on this young lady as she continues to put up solid numbers that will lead to success and hopefully a district title for these Lady Knights.

The MTSU commit is hooping it up on the Hardwood. Dropping 19 points and grabbing eight boards, the Lady Blue Raider commit has been on fire as she has led the charge. Anytime MB is on the court, she impacts the game in many ways. Her presence alone on the floor opens up others on the perimeter. When teams try to double her, she has the wherewithal to make the right decision, causing the defense to be in a scramble mode. Look for this young lady to finish as one of the top players in her district.

She is playing out of her mind, and her play has helped elevate the Lady Patriots. On Friday, she dropped 19 points, grabbed four boards, dished out a couple of assists, and had six steals. This kid is tough, and she has put everyone on notice as she has gotten after it. A stat line like this is the norm for her, and she has helped the Lady Patriots ball club put away teams. Look for her to continue on this trajectory as they fight for a district title and aim for state contention.

The University of Montevallo commit has turned it up a notch. She dropped 21 points against GCA, grabbing five boards, dishing out five assists, and getting six steals. She's been on fire and the leading catalyst for a tough Bullsdogs club finding its footing. This 3 level scoring threat has been leading her club in multiple statistical categories. Look for her to rally her team and compete as they make a run down the stretch. She's a solid ballplayer who is a fearless competitor.
