Youth Sports is a big-time business, and athletes need to get on the radars of coaches at all levels earlier every year.

Not a ton of freshmen have the chance to log significant varsity minutes, but when they do, they start popping up on the radar of Prep Girls Hoops Scouts.

The Class of 2029 PGH rankings are still in their “Watch List” phase, so here are five names to watch out for and follow when that first set of rankings debuts.

Shailynn Anderson, 5'10”, SG/SF, Olathe North, ‘29

Seeing a freshman play quality minutes at a Class 6A School will quickly get my attention, and we have two of them among this group. Anderson is averaging 10.2 points per game and playing 20 minutes a game for the Eagles. She is shooting 44 percent from deep, converting on 8-of-18 shot attempts from three-point range. She is also chipping in 3.3 rebounds and 1.3 steals per contest.

Teagan Snodgrass, 5'10”, G/F, Garden City, ‘29

Snodgrass is posting some unicorn numbers is assists for freshmen. She unofficially leads all Kansas freshmen with 28 assists in six games for Garden City. She also has a solid steal-to-turnover ratio early in her career, with 11 steals and nine turnovers committed in six games. Snodgrass is shooting 50 percent from the field and averaging 11.8 points per game.

[player_tooltip player_id='898215' first='Brynlee' last='Koontz'], 5'10”, CG, Jefferson West, ‘29

Koonts is attacking opposing players like a tiger chasing down a gazelle. She is averaging an incredible number of steals and points scored. Through three games, she is averaging 31.3 points and 11.7 steals per game. She also collected eight rebounds and dished out 3.7 assists per contest. She is shooting 51 percent from the floor and 77 percent from the free-throw line.

Brooke Marlow, 5'7”, SF, Southern Coffey County, ‘29

Marlow has scored 15 points and grabbed 29 rebounds in two games. That's an average of 14.5 rebounds per game, which would be impressive if she can keep that pace over the course of a full season.

Landry Nylund, 5'5”, CG, Pike Valley, ‘29

Pike Valley's Nylund is having an impactful freshman campaign. She is grabbing six rebounds and 2.8 steals per game for the Pike Valley Panthers through four games.
