Eagles Soar as Vaughn Breaks ACS Scoring Record

Vaughn and her teammates jumped on Lakeview as soon as the game started and never looked back. She moves extremely well without the ball cutting off of her teammates screens and only needs a quick look before the ball is out of her hands and in the air heading towards the basket. Vaughn has a very quick release and her range extends far beyond the three point line. She was also very good in transition and in the half court getting to basket and scoring or drawing fouls. She showed off her range hitting shots from the midrange and behind the three point line. Her footwork, including drop steps and pivots, was very impressive as she scored effectively inside as well. She was patient when the ball got to her on the perimeter waiting for defenders to clear before she attacked the basket. Early in this game she quickly lept high in the air to grab a missed shot on the offensive end and as soon as her feet hit the floor she sprang right back, high into the air, above everyone else and got an easy outback. She had a couple other plays very similar, but the vertical leaping ability that she showed was truly remarkable. Voldie used that ability to clean the glass, block and alter shots, and elevate over defenders to score. Mercado has a slick, sneaky handle, that left one player laying on the floor while she rose up and almost completed an insane highlight play missing the three. She has great vision and delivers the ball on time and in area. Emry plays with a very high IQ to go along with a solid skill set on offense that has led her to be one of the most consistent guards in Georgia. She scored the ball from three and the midrange, but was most effective driving the ball to the basket in the half court and when opportunities arose on the fast break. Combs showed a lot of maturity and patience running Lakeview's offense with mostly all underclassmen, including one middle schooler. She had great chemistry with Combs and was the recipient of many of Emyrie's passes. She scored around the basket in other ways including grabbing multiple offensive rebounds and getting put backs. Williams has a ton of potential. She finished the game easily in double figures. She has a very soft touch around the rim and made a few from difficult angles. She moves well for her size and age. She is definitely a player I will be keeping an eye on. Potentially, a mid-high level Division One prospect...</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block -->
