Hackley and company have started off this Winter winning most of their contests as they move into the middle of January. Hackley has been playing like PG #1. She isn't her team's top scoring threat but she is her teams best creator and facilitator, guard defender, and source of energy when the ball is in her possession. She knows how to run her teams offense and they are having a lot of success because of that so far this Winter. I really hope that Hackley gets a chance to play at the next level, she is definitely good enough. She just needs to find somewhere to fit in and then she can work from there. She plays intense ball and she knows how to make other around her better, which is all that matters.

After being ranked in the Top Five for her 2029 Class, [player_tooltip player_id='1169794' first='Emma' last='Ryder'] has been playing efficient ball near the bucket on both sides of the floor as Outtumwa has won 6 contests in a row. Ryder is shooting 55% from the field, making every opposing team game plan against her ability in-between the blocks. Offensively, she is using her pure strength to make attempts over smaller/weaker matchups, she is doing her work early in transition down the floor for easy looks within the possessions, and she is crashing the boards hard within reason. Ryder should be someone we hear about a lot moving forward. She is very talented for her age and she has been showing that this season so far.

Riverside High School sits with a 10-1 record after just upsetting the #1 team within the 2A Class a few days ago. The reason for all their success? A deep roster with size, skill, and a uniform playing system. Their main hooper is C/PF - [player_tooltip player_id='1198465' first='Sydney' last='Somers']. Somers is a handful to defend to say the least. She has good height at 6'0 and a calculated aggressive behavior on both offense and defense. The reality is that most oppositions don't have the height or the depth to handle the Somers or the entire Riverside lineup. Which is why Riverside is a team to note moving into Post season action this season. They have all the pieces to produce and win against anyone on any given night.

Turkey Valley has taken some lumps this Winter but they still sit with a 8-2 record so they aren't in a bad spot in general. Their leading SG and threat from the outside is Addison Steinlage. Steinlage is the second leading scorer and she isn't afraid to show up in other facets of the contest. Things such as rebounding, steals, and assists - she thrives at so it's nice to see that she is killing it while her team is continuing to win.

[player_tooltip player_id='1188262' first='Cadance' last='Shiflett'] has led her Diagonal High School program to an undefeated 8-0 record so far this Winter from the Forward position. Shiflett is her team's main producer in both sides of the ball and you can bet that she understands what she does best. You'll never see Shiflett shooting a deep shot. She is a by the basket-type prospects. She holds down the area in the middle of the floor and she stays anchored there for the most part unless she needs to step out to defend. It's always nice to see a humble player doing their thing while posting note-worthy numbers for their crew and that's what we have here in this situation with Shiflett.
