In a big game what would you want from your best player? Energy and readiness right from the start. Pius got it from Markowski who attacked the basket early and was a menace on defense for the Bolts. She finished with 14 points, eight rebounds and three blocks. The Omaha pledge will fit right in at the next level with her ability to get downhill with both hands as a lefty. She leads Pius in scoring with 13 points per game and adds 5.4 rebounds, 2.7 steals and 2.1 assists per contest.

Hueser should be on the radar of local NAIA and even Division II programs with her high basketball knowledge and IQ for the game. She can handle the ball and catch and shoot for a Christian team that likes to fire the triple. On Saturday, she scored 14 points on 4-for-11 from the 3-point line and added nine rebounds and two assists to her tally. If Christian is to earn another Class C-1 state title, Hueser will be a key piece for new coach Trey Pittenger. On the season she averages 12.1 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists.

Our sources at Pius say Miller will be a soccer lean, as she was the goalie (out of necessity) on last spring's 2025 state runner-up team in Class A, but is better suited in the field. You can tell she is a soccer player when she is on the court. Miller scored seven points in the decisive opening quarter and finished with 17 points, three rebounds and three steals in the win over Christian. Currently averages 11.8 points and leads the Bolts at three steals per contest. A smaller program should take a shot at offering Miller in both of her main sports.

Pittenger is a high-energy player who seemingly doesn't need a break when she plays. She led Christian's comeback against Pius by hitting three triples in the second quarter including a buzzer beater that cut the lead to 30-24 at the half. Pittenger finished with 12 points, five assists, four rebounds and four steals in the game and has filled the stat sheet all season for the Crusaders. She has averages of 10.5 points, 3.3 steals and 2.1 assists on the season.

Fredrick scored nine of her 13 points in the second quarter for Pius on Saturday when coach Ryan Psota said, "she grew up a lot" in the Thunderbolt win. In a game that was loaded with freshman talent, Fredrick was the top youngster on the floor. She added six rebounds and two assists in the win. Her game off the bench will be key for the Bolts the rest of the season as she develops further into her role.
