On multiple occasions Ava Fredrick made a play that made myself and the rest of the crowd stand up at this event. The play style that Fredrick brings to the floor is productive on both sides of the ball. She is someone on offense that can score from all three levels in the blink of an eye. She can shoot it if you sag off, she is very good at getting to the hoop once she puts the rock on the floor, and she can even work out of the midrange to get herself or other teammates open. Defensively, she can switch between the 2, 3, and 4 right now. She is somewhat undersized (5’10) to guard a true SF with length and height but she would be willing to put forth her best effort if the challenge was put in front of her and that’s all you can really ask for as a coach. I expect Fredrick to lace up her kicks to continue onto the next level once she graduates the high school ranks in a couple of years. She already has an impressive game and it’s only going to get better with experience.

Fredrick scored nine of her 13 points in the second quarter for Pius on Saturday when coach Ryan Psota said, “she grew up a lot” in the Thunderbolt win. In a game that was loaded with freshman talent, Fredrick was the top youngster on the floor. She added six rebounds and two assists in the win. Her game off the bench will be key for the Bolts the rest of the season as she develops further into her role.
