Hidden Gems at the SUTS New Years Classic

Each year, the SUTS New Years Classic brings together top programs from around Florida, and the 11th annual edition in Miami was no different. Beyond the high-profile teams and familiar names, the two-day shootout also highlighted a number of unheralded prospects who elevated their play against strong competition. Here are a few of the hidden gems that emerged from the event:    Jada is a long, athletic wing with a fluid game on both ends of the floor. She rebounds well from the perimeter and consistently uses her length to disrupt passing lanes which turns defense into offense. Her handle allows her to be effective getting downhill to her right where she plays with confidence and control. She moves smoothly and naturally and allows the game to come to her.     Renata is a senior leader with a long frame who anchors a lineup without a traditional post presence. She's a versatile scorer capable of producing from all three levels and consistently impacts the game on the glass and regularly leads her team in rebounding with her versatility. Renata uses length and strong instincts to create steals and extra possessions by setting the tone on both ends of the floor.     Keren has a strong frame with good size for a freshman. She showed the ability to impact the game on both ends, including protecting the rim with timely shot blocks. She knocked down multiple three-point shots and displayed strong off-ball instincts by converting a well-timed backcut for a layup when her defender overplayed. Keren brings added value to ACFL with international playing experience representing Colombia.     Raquel is a high-motor guard who consistently made plays for others by showing good vision and ball distribution. She uses a quick first step to get to the rim and plays comfortably through pressure with solid handle and poise. Soto also proved to be a threat from deep by keeping defenders honest and adding scoring versatility in both games.     Anayah brings impressive size and length for a freshman with a great frame and good mobility. She finishes effectively around the rim with either hand and shows a soft touch inside. AP displays good passing instincts for a post player which allows her to impact the game beyond scoring, rebounding, and her defensive presence.     Kartier is a high-motor guard who plays with pace and quickness. She's effective using a shot fake to create space and can knock down the mid-range jumper. Her release and form on her three-point shot is also solid. She's unselfish by nature which was highlighted by passing up an easy bucket to set up a teammate for a transition assist. Kartier impacts winning beyond the box score.
