Under the Radar 3s, 4s, and 5s at SUTS New Year Classic

Now that the Christmas coverage has ended, we shift the focus to the SUTS New Year Classic, where a number of wings and forwards put together standout performances. The 3s and 4s who sometimes perform under the radar played well and impacted games through their versatility and physicality. From stretching the floor and defending multiple positions to rebounding outside their area and making timely plays, this group did the work to earn some recognition.    [player_tooltip player_id='1613666' first='Sarah-Renee' last='Ingraham'] was a high motor forward who also provided a high presence on the glass. She was an active rebounder on both ends, especially on the offensive boards where she consistently attacked the ball. Ingraham defended the paint well and was active denying entry passes. The young forward was explosive on her vertical jump and showed strong hands catching the ball in congestion and finishing through contact, often drawing fouls. Ingraham was physical, athletic, and disruptive around the rim. She entered the season as an under the radar prospect. She is making noise and drawing attention.         [player_tooltip player_id='515006' first='Rachael' last='Luis'] continues to just go about her business and often goes unnoticed on the floor. Luid definitely was a contributing forward in the SUTS New Year Classic. She made her presence felt inside with strong rebounding and timely rim protection. She finished around the basket and recorded several key blocked shots.      [player_tooltip player_id='219786' first='Kennedy' last='Deal'] showcased versatility and confidence playing on the wing and also down on the blocks. Deal can score on the inside with mid-range shots and can also score on attacks to the rim. Deal's versatility was highlighted by a coast to coast finish on the break - with the left hand. Her ability to push the ball and score in the transition game showed another dimension to Deal's game.     [player_tooltip player_id='1502687' first='Kristijana' last='Carattini'] showed impressive footwork and touch in the paint. She finished strong on catches inside and followed up with some strong catch-and-spin moves to score. Carattini showed comfort playing on the post with balance and control. Carattini was. a polished interior scorer with a very good feel around the rim.     [player_tooltip player_id='1217996' first='Breyanna' last='Blount'] was a physical presence inside and showed flashes of dominace at the center and power forward positions. Blount was strong on the offensive glass and did a solid job finishing second-chance opportunities. Blount was also imopressive and effective in pick and role situations. She presented a nice target and was able to effectively score and put pressure on th defense.     [player_tooltip player_id='248374' first='Catalina' last='LaFreniere'] showcased versatility playing the shooting guard and small forward position depending on the personnel on the floor. LaFreniere attacked gaps with speed and confidence, finishing through contact and showing creativity around the rim—including a smooth double-clutch finish. She handled the ball well, knocked down a corner three, and continued to get to her spots even against tight defense. The versatile LaFreniere was a dynamic slasher who scored and also created for her teammates.
